Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the Netherlands is seeking a Site HSE Manager to guide all health, safety and environmental activities on a busy construction site. You will support safe work practices, coach teams, and help create a strong safety culture, reporting into the Site Manager and the HVDC HSE team.

This on-site role focuses on setting up HSE processes, improving site practices and ensuring compliance with Dutch law and company standards.

Qualifications

Fluent in Dutch and English.
HSE diploma (MVK/HVK) or equivalent.
VOL-VCA certification required.
Experience on large construction sites with multiple contractors.
Knowledge of Dutch legislation (Arbobesluit).
Understanding of Safety Culture Ladder (SCL).

Responsibilities

Set up and improve the site HSE system and plans.
Prepare and review safety documents like risk assessments and method statements.
Act as the main HSE contact for the project and the site.
Track safety indicators and report results to the project team.
Work with client and subcontractor HSE teams to align activities.
Plan and deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety campaigns.
Investigate incidents, find root causes, and propose improvements.
Maintain strong site presence through inspections and safety conversations.
