Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the Netherlands is seeking a Site HSE Manager to guide all health, safety and environmental activities on a busy construction site. You will support safe work practices, coach teams, and help create a strong safety culture, reporting into the Site Manager and the HVDC HSE team.

This on-site role focuses on setting up HSE processes, improving site practices and ensuring compliance with Dutch law and company standards.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Dutch and English.
• HSE diploma (MVK/HVK) or equivalent.
• VOL-VCA certification required.
• Experience on large construction sites with multiple contractors.
• Knowledge of Dutch legislation (Arbobesluit).
• Understanding of Safety Culture Ladder (SCL).

Responsibilities

• Set up and improve the site HSE system and plans.
• Prepare and review safety documents like risk assessments and method statements.
• Act as the main HSE contact for the project and the site.
• Track safety indicators and report results to the project team.
• Work with client and subcontractor HSE teams to align activities.
• Plan and deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety campaigns.
• Investigate incidents, find root causes, and propose improvements.
• Maintain strong site presence through inspections and safety conversations.

As a Site HSE Manager, you guide all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities on a busy construction site. You support safe work practices, coach teams, and help create a strong safety culture.

This role places you in the center of a high-profile project that supports the energy transition. You work closely with the Site Manager, the global HVDC HSE team, subcontractors, and client representatives. You will set up HSE processes, improve site practices, and ensure all activities follow Dutch law and company standards.

You will develop your leadership skills through direct engagement with workers, supervisors, and project teams. You will help solve real site challenges, guide incident investigations, and influence safe behaviors every day. This is a site-based position, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.

Your background

• You speak Dutch and English fluently.
• You hold an HSE diploma such as MVK, HVK, or another recognized qualification.
• You hold a VOL-VCA certification.
• You have experience on large construction sites with multiple contractors.
• You know Dutch legislation including the Arbobesluit.
• You understand the Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) and apply it on site.
