Job summary

Artefact, an applied AI company with a Utrecht footprint, is seeking a Junior Data Consultant to support national and international clients in developing innovative data & AI strategies. You will assist with data collection, cleaning, and analysis while collaborating with cross-border teams on advisory projects.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s degree in Technology or (Business) Economics, have strong English communication, and are comfortable with Python or R, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree, ideally focusing on Technology or (Business) Economics (MSc, MBA), with strong academic performance.
• Strong verbal and written English communication, able to represent Artefact confidently in client-facing settings.
• Hands-on experience with programming or tools like Python or R; comfortable using Excel and PowerPoint to analyze and present data.
• 6–12 months in internships or student roles in consulting, data/analytics, marketing, advertising, finance, or tech is a plus but not required.
• Business acumen with a dual profile in ‘business’ and ‘data,’ spotting business opportunities.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail, comfortable working with large datasets.
• Curious and passionate about data and technological evolution; rigorous, proactive, problem-solving.

Responsibilities

As a Junior Data Consultant, you will support national and international clients across various industries in developing and implementing innovative data & AI strategies. Your role will encompass:

• Client advisory: collaborate with clients alongside your (international) team to understand their business needs and goals, delivering data-driven recommendations that guide decision-making and strategy.
• Data Collection and organization: collect, clean, and prepare data for analysis, correcting errors and formatting it for statistical software.
• Ownership of project stream: drive individual workstreams, ensuring successful and timely delivery, in alignment with project goals.
• Data analysis and interpretation: use tools like Excel, SQL, and Python to analyze data, apply statistical techniques to uncover trends and patterns, and present clear, actionable insights to clients, ensuring clarity for both technical and non-technical audiences.

What we are looking for

• Educational background: a completed Master’s degree, ideally focusing on Technology or (Business) Economics (MSc, MBA), with strong academic performance.
• Language proficiency: you have strong verbal and written communication skills in English and are able to represent Artefact confidently in client-facing settings.
• Technical proficiency: you have a strong interest in technology and some hands‑on experience with programming or tools like Python or R (coding experience isn’t required). You’re also comfortable using Excel and PowerPoint to analyze and present data.
• Work experience: 6–12 months in internships or student roles in consulting, data/analytics, marketing, advertising, finance, or tech is a plus but not required.
• Business acumen: you possess a dual profile in ‘business’ and ‘data,’ with a keen eye for identifying business opportunities.
• Analytical mindset: strong analytical abilities with attention to detail, comfortable working with large datasets.
• Personal attributes: you are curious and passionate about data and technological evolution. You demonstrate rigour, proactivity, and enjoy problem-solving.
