Job summary

Artefact in Utrecht is seeking an ambitious Forward Deployed Engineer to join our tech team. Depending on your background, you’ll work on Data Platform and AI/LLM applications, building robust data pipelines and deploying LLM-based solutions.

You’ll collaborate with clients, write clean Python and SQL, and translate business needs into production-ready solutions. We value English fluency, a Master’s in CS or Engineering, and 1–3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in Data Engineer/AI Engineer roles.
• Strong Python and SQL, with production-quality code.
• Familiar with ETL/ELT principles and/or LLM orchestration frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks).
• Fluent English; Dutch or French a plus.

Artefact Benelux in Utrecht is looking for an ambitious Forward Deployed Engineer to strengthen our Tech team.

About the Role

Depending on your background and the project, you'll focus on one or both tracks:

Data Platform

• Build and maintain production-grade data pipelines using dbt, Spark, or Airflow, with a focus on performance, observability, and data quality.
• Architect end-to-end data platforms with robust data models to support analytical and operational use cases.

AI & LLM Applications

• Design and deploy LLM-based solutions
• RAG systems, Knowledge Graphs, or agentic workflows — using frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Evaluate and integrate new AI tools and models to improve reliability and performance at scale.

Across both tracks

• Work directly with clients to translate business needs into production-ready technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable Python and SQL, and communicate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

We’re seeking someone who has:

• Fluency in English (mandatory); Dutch or French is a plus.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience (or equivalent), in Data Engineer, AI Engineer or similar role
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with a focus on production-quality code.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT principles or LLM orchestration frameworks, depending on your track
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS, or Databricks) (Professional Certification is a plus).
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
