This mid-sized, tech-driven organisation in Amsterdam develops an advanced platform designed to process and analyse massive volumes of complex data. The ambition is to create an open-source solution available worldwide, enabling scientists, doctors, and researchers everywhere to use it immediately. The platform is technically mature and ready for scaling, performance optimisations, feature development, and AI integration. Your work will help set the standard for an open-source product contributing to healthcare worldwide over the coming decade.
You will work with highly educated colleagues, including MScs and PhDs, tackling non-trivial problems such as optimising complex data pipelines, building real-time analytics and matching algorithms, and designing scalable, secure, robust systems. The culture is collaborative with open communication and room for your own ideas.
As a Java/Kotlin Backend Engineer, you will be at the core of a heavy-load platform processing massive volumes of data daily. You will build scalable, event-driven systems using Java, Kotlin, Kafka, run in GCP, and automate with modern CI/CD and Terraform. The focus is on performance, scalability, and reliability while researching and implementing new technologies to future-proof the platform.
You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, data scientists, and researchers, gaining opportunities to grow into senior or specialist roles and to lead complex technical projects over time.
