Job summary

ALTEN Nederland is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join their engineering team in Zaandam. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and APIs for enterprise applications, as well as optimizing AI-driven systems.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field and has at least 3 years of experience. Fluency in Dutch and English is required. This position offers a permanent contract and the possibility of hybrid working.

Qualifications

The Position

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our engineering team in Zaandam.

As Backend Engineer, your main tasks will include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and APIs for enterprise applications;
• Building and optimizing AI-driven systems, including automation and chatbot solutions;
• Integrating new features into large-scale systems and ensuring seamless data processing;
• Taking end-to-end ownership of backend systems, from design to deployment and maintenance;
• Collaborating with development teams to implement scalable and reliable solutions;
• Ensuring high performance, security, and maintainability of backend infrastructure.

Your Profile

• Completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience as a Backend Engineer.
• Fluency in Dutch and English is a must.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Maven.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Postgres, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub, Kafka, and cloud-based backend systems.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
• Proactive attitude with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
