Job description

Overview

In cancer care, treatment decisions can take many days—but patients don’t have that time. kaiko is developing AI foundational models to bring data together and integrate it into clinical workflows, enabling doctors to make faster, more effective treatment decisions. We collaborate with the leading Dutch cancer research institute (NKI) on AI research projects and a joint clinical validation initiative, with plans to expand partnerships to more hospitals in 2025. We have raised significant long-term funding and operate offices in Zurich and Amsterdam. Our team has grown to 80+ people from 25 countries and was recognized as a Rising Innovator at the GenAI conference.

About the role

You'll contribute to developing user-facing applications that streamline cancer care, giving clinicians seamless access to critical data. Your work will directly support how doctors interact with AI-driven insights, leading to faster and more accurate treatment decisions.

You will be based in The Netherlands or Switzerland, with the expectation of spending at least 50% of your time in the office.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance reusable components and interfaces for medical applications, such as medical image viewers, data reporting interfaces for clinicians, or software performance monitoring UIs.
  • Participate in technical discussions and contribute to the design and delivery of new features.
  • Help maintain the development infrastructure needed for projects, including GitHub actions, Docker files, and release deployments.
  • Collaborate closely with UX Designers to understand design requirements and user experience goals.
  • Translate Figma designs into high-quality front-end code, ensuring pixel-perfect implementation.
  • Collaborate with the regulatory team for the continuous development and releases of medical software devices.
  • Rapidly prototype user interfaces to enable quick iteration and feedback during the design and development process.
  • Write well-tested, reusable, and maintainable code.
About you
  • Experience with Unit and integration tests with Jest/Vitest, React Testing Library.
  • Understanding of Single Sign-On (SAML and/or OAuth).
  • Passion for latest front-end technologies and patterns.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with the development team and stakeholders.
Nice to have
  • Expertise in modern frontend development: Tailwind, Next.js (SSR), Storybook, design systems, micro-frontends, monorepos.
  • Skilled in testing and usability: end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright), accessibility best practices (e.g., WCAG compliance), and usability standards (IEC 62366-1, ISO 9241-210).
  • Comfortable in open, collaborative environments: Open source contributions, DICOM expertise.
Values and culture
  • Ownership: Autonomy to set goals, make critical decisions, and see direct impact.
  • Collaboration: Approach disagreements with curiosity, build on common ground, and create solutions together.
  • Ambition: High standards, resilience, and focus on better outcomes for patients.
Benefits
  • An attractive and competitive salary, a good pension plan and 25 vacation days per year.
  • Great offsites and team events to strengthen the team and celebrate successes.
  • A EUR 1000 learning and development budget to help you grow.
  • Autonomy to work in the way that suits you, whether you have a kid or prefer early mornings.
  • An annual commuting subsidy.
