Job summary

Hunkemöller offers the Best Internship in Retail (BIIR) program starting February 2027, inviting 50+ interns to grow in data analytics. You’ll learn Looker, LookML, dbt, and Google Cloud while collaborating with data engineers, analytics engineers, BI specialists and business stakeholders.

The program includes an assigned buddy, hybrid WFH up to 3 days/week, an internship allowance of 450€ per month (gross), and travel support.

• Experience with data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI is preferred.
• Solid SQL fundamentals and curiosity to transform data.

Job description

What will you do?

• Gain hands-on experience with Looker, building your skills in developing interactive and insightful visualizations
• Support LookML Development: Learn and assist in the development and maintenance of our Looker semantic layer, including views and Explores.
• Contribute to dbt Models: Assist in developing, testing, and deploying data transformation models using dbt to turn raw data into clean, structured data marts.
• Documentation: Assist in writing clear documentation for data models and transformations
• Troubleshoot and Collaborate: Work with the team to investigate data discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and support Data Analysts and business users with their data questions
• Learn and Grow: Actively learn our data stack, including dbt, Looker, and Google Cloud Platform, and contribute to the team's success
• Work with data engineers, analytics engineers, BI specialists and stakeholders from different business functions to translate data needs into practical solutions

About you

• You are currently pursuing a degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management or a related technical field
• Preferably you have experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
• You have a foundation in SQL and are interested in using it to explore, validate and transform data
• You approach problems analytically and are comfortable investigating why data or processes do not behave as expected
• You are Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment
• You can work independently while also collaborating effectively with technical colleagues and business stakeholders
• You can communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing

• Internship Allowance: 450€ per month (gross) with 8+ holiday days (based on 40h/week)
• Travel Allowance: Max. 11,50€ per day (based on your travel distance), if you are not eligible for the free Student OV Chipcard
• Additional Benefits: Access to 25% staff discount and a company laptop. Also, company gatherings like Townhalls and drinks

Eligibility Criteria

For this internship, you need to be available for 5 months starting in February 2027. Please note that your application will only be considered if you are enrolled at a school or university for the full duration of the internship. Additionally, to comply with Dutch law, one of the following must apply:

• You are an EU citizen,
• You are on a Family/Partner visa,
• You are a non-EU student studying in the Netherlands, and you meet at least one of the following requirements: (1) The internship is a mandatory part of your curriculum, OR (2) your university is willing to sign a third-party agreement (Nuffic Agreement).
