Job summary

Whiffle, a Dutch high-tech scale-up, seeks an HR Business Partner who combines hands-on HR with strategic impact. You will own core HR operations—contracts, payroll, absence, leave, benefits and changes—and partner with the CFO and Leadership Team to keep HR data accurate and compliant.

You will work with C-level and team leads to translate Whiffle’s strategy into practical people initiatives that boost ownership, accountability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HRM, Business Administration, Psychology or related field.
• Solid knowledge of Dutch HR administration, employment conditions and law.
• Experience advising managers on people topics at management level.
• Ability to switch between strategic discussions and operational detail.
• Strong Dutch and English communication.
• Discretion and integrity with confidential matters.

We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner who can help us professionalise HR and act as a trusted, pragmatic partner to our people and management.

The role:

As HR Business Partner, you combine hands-on HR responsibility with strategic impact. You ensure that day-to-day HR runs smoothly, while helping shape how our organisation and people practices develop.

Working closely with the C-level team and team leads, you will:

• Own core HR operations, including contracts, (external) payroll, absence, leave, benefits and employee changes.
• Ensure HR data, processes and policies are accurate, effective and compliant with Dutch employment law.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, policies, tools and systems — bringing structure without unnecessary bureaucracy.
• Act as a sparring partner to management and team leads on people and employee-relations matters.
• Know when to advise, challenge, coach or simply get things done.
• Support the development of a more performance- and results-oriented organisation.
• Translate Whiffle’s strategic direction into practical people initiatives that strengthen ownership and accountability.

What we are looking for:

You are an experienced HR professional with approximately 5–10 years of relevant experience, combining strong HR fundamentals with sound judgement and organisational awareness.

You bring:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HRM, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of Dutch HR administration, employment conditions and employment law.
• Experience advising managers and discussing people topics at management level.
• The ability to switch naturally between strategic discussions and operational detail.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential matters.

Just as importantly, you are hands-on, curious and pragmatic. You ask questions before jumping to solutions, see the bigger picture, but don’t mind fixing a payroll issue when needed. You are comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment where priorities can shift and where not everything has already been built.
