Job summary

Confidential is seeking a backend engineer to design, build and operate high-volume services in a remote-first, fast-moving environment. You’ll translate Mandarin requirements into robust designs, own production systems and drive reliability and performance improvements.

You’ll collaborate with Mandarin-speaking product and engineering teams, document in English, and mentor others on code quality and testing. This role sits at the intersection of language and engineering in a global platform.

Qualifications

• Has built and run backend services in production at scale.
• Writes clean, tested code and enforces coding standards.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and ship backend services that handle high-volume, latency-sensitive traffic.
• Own your services in production, including monitoring and incident response.
• Turn requirements from Mandarin-speaking teams into clear technical designs and document in English.
• Raise the bar on code reviews, testing and documentation across the team.
• Improve performance and reliability of existing services with measurable results.
