Job description

Field Service & Test Engineer – High-Tech Systems

Employment: Full-time

Working hours: 2-shift system, including one Saturday evening and Sunday evening shift every 4 weeks

Your role

As a Field Service & Test Engineer, you are the technical specialist responsible for keeping complex high-tech systems running smoothly. A significant part of your time will be spent onsite at a leading high-tech customer in Eindhoven, where you will analyse and resolve technical issues related to wafer handling.

You are a true all-rounder. One day, you may be troubleshooting a complex technical issue; the next, you could be analysing test results, performing dimensional measurements or working on structural improvements. You maintain a helicopter view, switch quickly between different activities and make sure that issues are properly followed up and documented.

Approximately 60% of your time is spent onsite at the customer. The remaining 40% is spent as a Test Engineer within the factory in Eindhoven, where you will be involved in testing, analysing and improving complex mechatronic systems.

An important part of the role is also dimensional measurement and quality verification. Therefore, experience with ZEISS coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) is required. Experience with ZEISS CALYPSO, including programming and modifying measurement programs, is a strong advantage.

What will you do?

  • Analyse and resolve technical issues related to wafer handling.
  • Perform troubleshooting on complex mechatronic systems.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for the customer when issues occur.
  • Maintain an overview of multiple ongoing issues and determine the right priorities.
  • Perform testing activities within the factory and analyse test results.
  • Perform dimensional measurements and quality checks using ZEISS measuring machines.
  • Create, modify and/or optimise measurement programs using ZEISS CALYPSO, where applicable.
  • Interpret measurement results and use them to support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Work closely with colleagues from engineering, production, quality and service.
  • Ensure clear and accurate administrative handovers of issues and ongoing actions.
  • Report activities, findings, measurement results and technical conclusions accurately in the customer's systems.
  • Ensure proper transfer of open issues and actions to colleagues so that nothing gets lost.
  • Look beyond solving individual problems and identify opportunities to prevent recurring issues.
  • Communicate professionally with the customer, even when pressure is high or an issue occurs repeatedly.

What do we expect from you?

We are looking for someone who is technically strong, stress-resistant and an excellent communicator. You enjoy working in a dynamic high-tech environment and get energy from solving complex technical problems. You combine practical troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to testing, measurement and analysis.

You bring:

  • MBO+/HBO level of working and thinking, preferably in a technical field.
  • A strong technical foundation and solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with troubleshooting in a technical or high-tech environment.
  • Hands-on experience with ZEISS coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
  • Experience with ZEISS CALYPSO is highly desirable, particularly experience with programming, modifying or optimising measurement programs.
  • The ability to interpret measurement results and translate them into practical technical conclusions.
  • Experience with precision measurement, quality control or dimensional inspection is an advantage.
  • The ability to switch quickly between different tasks while maintaining a helicopter view.
  • A proactive and independent attitude with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Strong administrative skills and an understanding of the importance of accurate reporting and handovers.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Dutch is not required.
  • Willingness to work in a 2-shift system, including approximately one Saturday evening and Sunday evening shift every four weeks. Weekend work is compensated with a weekday off, in consultation with your manager.

Why this role?

This position is ideal for a technical professional who doesn't want to be in the same place every day. You combine onsite field service with technical testing, precision measurement and troubleshooting, giving you a broad perspective on complex high-tech systems.

You will work at the intersection of service, engineering, testing, metrology and troubleshooting. This means you won't just solve technical problems; you will also contribute to analysing them structurally, verifying solutions through measurement and testing, and preventing recurring issues.

Experience with ZEISS measuring equipment and CALYPSO makes this role particularly suitable for someone with a background in metrology, precision engineering, quality inspection or high-tech manufacturing, who also enjoys hands-on troubleshooting and customer contact.
