Job summary

Siemens Healthineers in the Netherlands seeks a field service engineer to deliver expert maintenance and service for Varian systems, following documented processes and training. You will act as a trusted partner to customers, plan and manage preventive maintenance, installations, upgrades, and urgent service requests, and document all activities accurately.

The role requires 1–2 years of relevant experience, strong IT and networking skills, excellent communication, and willingness to work

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent technical field.
  • 1–2 years servicing complex technical or medical equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with diagnostic tools.
  • IT hardware knowledge and basic networking troubleshooting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer‑oriented mindset.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to work in shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert service and maintenance for Varian systems per training and docs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and optimize performance.
  • Build strong customer relationships on site and remotely.
  • Provide first‑line phone and remote technical support to customers and Field Engineers.
  • Plan and manage schedule: preventive maintenance, installations, upgrades, and urgent service requests.
  • Document all service activities clearly in company systems.

Completes technical‑oriented service tasks of various scopes and supports in planning and managing these tasks.

Major Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert service and maintenance for advanced Varian systems, following technical documentation and comprehensive training programs.
  • Act as a trusted partner to customers, proactively identifying opportunities to reduce equipment downtime and optimize system performance.
  • Build strong, long‑term customer relationships through clear, empathetic, and professional communication—both on site and remotely.
  • Provide first‑line phone and remote technical support to customers and Field Engineers when required.
  • Independently plan and manage your schedule, balancing preventive maintenance, installations, upgrades, and urgent service requests while effectively prioritizing customer needs through to resolution.
  • Accurately document all service activities in company systems, including technical issues, corrective actions, and parts used.
  • Participate in an initial structured training phase, including attendance at technical courses in dedicated training facilities, and continuously update your expertise through technical publications and procedures related to Varian equipment.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional knowledge, quality, and safety in full alignment with company guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree from a Technical Institute or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in servicing complex technical or medical equipment (preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with confident use of testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of IT hardware and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer‑oriented mindset.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work in shifts.
