Job summary

ALTEN Nederland is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement and maintain embedded software for projects across the Netherlands. The role involves low-level driver development, board bring-up, and close collaboration with hardware engineers to validate system behavior.

We expect strong embedded C/C++ skills, experience with RTOS and embedded Linux or bare-metal systems, and proven debugging abilities with standard tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Experience in embedded C/C++ development.
• Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, QNX, AUTOSAR) and embedded Linux or bare-metal.

Responsibilities

Embedded Software Engineer - ALTEN Nederland

This position is open for our office in Eindhoven, Capelle a/d Ijssel, and Apeldoorn.

As an Embedded Software Engineer you will:

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded software and firmware
• Develop low-level drivers and interfaces for microcontrollers or SoCs
• Support board bring-up, hardware integration, and system debugging
• Work with hardware engineers to define and validate system behaviour
• Optimize software for performance, memory usage, power, and timing
• Contribute to code reviews, testing, and documentation
• Help improve development processes and engineering best practices

Your profile

• Completed bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or similar
• Strong experience in embedded C/C++ development
• Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, QNX, AUTOSAR Classic/Adaptive, or similar)
• Familiarity with embedded Linux or bare-metal systems
• Experience debugging embedded systems using tools such as JTAG, logic analyzers, or oscilloscopes
• Understanding of hardware and software interaction in embedded environments
