As the Electrical Engineer, you are part of the team designing the new Anti-Submarine Warfare Frigates (ASWF), built in close cooperation with the Royal Netherlands Navy and international partners. You ensure that these advanced naval vessels are equipped with reliable, safe, and regulation-compliant electrical systems. Your work includes designing power distribution networks, defining load balances, and integrating high-end systems with strict EMC and redundancy requirements all to keep the ship operational in the most demanding conditions.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop functional descriptions, drawings, and other basic engineering documents for power distribution, lighting, and other electrical systems specific to the ASWF frigates.
  • Develop and maintain specification documents for all electrical components and installation processes, ensuring compliance with military and classification society standards.
  • Write detailed test and validation plans to guarantee compliance with Class regulations and project-specific requirements during virtual testing (simulations) and physical tests (FAT, HAT, SAT).
  • Manage and coordinate vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely and high-quality contributions aligned with ASWF project goals.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor designs and integrate their deliverables seamlessly into the ship’s electrical architecture.
  • Develop and update standards and working methods for detailed electrical engineering and commissioning within the ASWF framework.
  • Support proposal phases by developing conceptual electrical designs and providing technical input.
  • Provide technical support and participate in commissioning activities for projects under contract.

Skills & experience

  • 3+ years of experience designing complex electrical systems, including large power distribution networks, preferably in maritime, offshore, or defence-related projects.
  • Proven track record working on complex multidisciplinary projects with multiple suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Experience in model-based system engineering (MBSE) environments using the V-model.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience designing EMC-compliant electrical systems; knowledge of TEMPEST or similar military standards is a strong plus.
  • Excellent references; security screening is mandatory due to project confidentiality.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are required, in line with the military nature of the ASWF project. Candidates holding EU work visas or dual nationalities (EU/non-EU) are not eligible.
