Job description

# Director Product ManagementSCIL Nanoimprint SolutionsEindhoven, NL · Full-timePosted yesterdayTech & EngineeringApply at SCIL Nanoimprint SolutionsWe’re a young company, spun out of Philips, with a strong focus on innovation and real-world impact. Our goal is to help high-volume manufacturing customers across different industries turn advanced technology into practical solutions. From our base at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, we’re growing internationally and building what’s next. Join us, and let’s shape the future together. Your mission As SCIL moves from technology leadership and customer-specific development towards scalable product platforms and international growth, we are looking for a Director Product Management to lead this transition. The Director Product Management is responsible for translating SCIL’s technology capabilities and market opportunities into a coherent, differentiated and commercially successful product portfolio. You will own the product strategy, roadmaps and lifecycle of SCIL’s integrated offering, including: Nanoimprint equipment platforms Stamp-making equipment and stamp technology Imprint materials and consumables Application-specific process solutions Software, service and lifecycle propositions The role sits at the intersection of customers, commercial strategy, technology development, engineering, operations and service. You will ensure that SCIL develops the right products, for the right markets, with clear requirements, competitive differentiation and realistic paths to industrialization. A central part of the assignment is moving the organization from predominantly customer-driven engineering towards configurable and repeatable product platforms—without losing the flexibility required to serve emerging deep-tech markets. Responsibilities Product strategy and portfolio management Develop and maintain SCIL’s company-wide product and platform strategy. Translate market developments, customer requirements and technology capabilities into prioritized product roadmaps. Define the role and positioning of each product platform within the overall portfolio. Identify where SCIL should standardize, where modular configuration is required and where customer-specific development is strategically justified. Manage portfolio priorities and trade-offs based on market attractiveness, strategic fit, development capacity, risk and expected financial return. Initiate product, market and investment decisions supported by robust business cases. Define make, buy or partner strategies for critical product modules and capabilities. Manage products throughout their lifecycle, including introduction, improvement, obsolescence and replacement. Product definition and governance Own the product requirements and ensure alignment between customer needs, commercial commitments and technical feasibility. Establish a disciplined product management and product-development governance process. Define clear product configurations, options, performance specifications and acceptance criteria. Introduce effective stage-gate decision-making for concept development, product release and change control. Prevent uncontrolled customization and ensure deviations are supported by clear strategic or commercial rationale. Ensure that product roadmaps are translated into executable development programs with clear priorities and ownership. Establish transparent mechanisms for resolving conflicts between customer urgency, engineering capacity, product quality and delivery commitments. Productization and industrialization Lead the transition from prototypes and customer-specific solutions to reliable, repeatable and manufacturable products. Work closely with Engineering and Operations to improve product maturity, modularity, reliability, serviceability and cost. Ensure design-for-manufacturing, design-for-service and design-to-cost principles are incorporated from the start of development. Strengthen new product introduction processes and product-release readiness. Drive configuration management, product documentation and engineering change discipline. Ensure lessons from installations, applications, service and manufacturing are systematically incorporated into product improvements. Support the development of a scalable supplier and technology-partner ecosystem. Market and customer alignment Develop a fact-based understanding of customer manufacturing challenges, decision criteria and adoption barriers. Validate product concepts and roadmaps with lead customers, partners and relevant industry stakeholders. Work with the Chief Commercial Officer to define market segmentation, value propositions, pricing logic and go-to-market priorities. Support strategic customer engagements where product direction, roadmap alignment or significant customization is involved. Translate early customer engagements into repeatable products and broader market propositions. Monitor competitive technologies and determine where SCIL must differentiate, partner or accelerate development. Business performance Define the commercial and operational targets for each product line. Improve product-level visibility of revenue potential, gross margin, development expenditure, lifecycle cost and return on investment. Drive product cost reduction and margin improvement without compromising critical performance or reliability. Develop recurring revenue opportunities through stamps, materials, process solutions, upgrades, software and service. Support annual planning and investment allocation across the product portfolio. Track product performance using clear technical, operational, customer and financial metrics. Leadership and organization Build and lead a professional product management function appropriate for SCIL’s scale and growth phase. Establish clear decision rights and accountability for product definition, development, release and lifecycle management. Coach product managers and technical product owners in structured, market-oriented product leadership. Contribute actively to company strategy, organizational development and investment decisions as a member of the Executive Management Team. Promote a culture of customer focus, technical excellence, transparency, speed and disciplined execution. Key interfaces The Director Product Management works particularly closely with: Chief Commercial Officer: market priorities, customer insights, value propositions, pricing and go-to-market strategy. Chief Operations Officer: industrialization, sourcing, manufacturing readiness, quality, cost and delivery. Product Development teams: product architecture, development programs, technical requirements and change management. Applications and Process teams: process capability, customer validation and application-specific solutions. Service organization: installation performance, reliability, maintainability, upgrades and installed-base feedback. Chief Technology Officer: technology strategy, research priorities, intellectual property and technology readiness. Your expertise and qualities At least 12–15 years of relevant experience in semiconductor equipment, photonics, advanced manufacturing, precision systems or a comparable deep-tech industry. Significant leadership experience in product management, product engineering, systems engineering, product marketing or business-line management. Demonstrated success in converting complex technology into industrial products and scalable product platforms. Strong understanding of product development, new product introduction and product lifecycle management. Experience working with global semiconductor or photonics customers and their qualification processes. Familiarity with low-volume, high-complexity equipment development and the transition towards repeatable manufacturing. Experience with product-line financials, business cases, pricing, margins and investment prioritization. International leadership experience in a scale-up or rapidly changing technology organization. A technical university degree is required; an advanced degree in engineering, physics or a related field is preferred. Additional business education is an advantage. What do we offer?
