We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer / Data Steward to join a large-scale data and analytics environment, working on customer-focused data products and helping improve data quality, governance and reliability.
This is a varied role sitting across Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering and Data Governance. You'll work hands-on with data pipelines and transformation, while also helping define data quality standards, metadata, business definitions and governance processes.
We're open to candidates with a broad skill set, as well as strong specialists who have deep expertise in one of these areas and a solid understanding of the others.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, improve and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines using SQL and Python
- Develop and maintain data quality rules, tests and dashboards using dbt and Elementary
- Investigate data quality issues, perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions
- Define and maintain business definitions, harmonization rules and metadata
- Review data models, data contracts and data mappings against governance standards
- Support the development and adoption of data governance frameworks and best practices
- Improve the reliability, discoverability and usability of data products
- Present data quality and governance insights to technical and business stakeholders
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Stewards, Product Owners and Software Engineers
- Support ad-hoc data analysis and problem-solving when required
Required Experience
- Experience writing production-grade code within a cloud environment – GCP preferred
- Strong SQL skills with experience in data modeling and transformation
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery and/or PySpark/Databricks
- Experience with dbt, particularly data modeling and data quality testing
- Understanding of data quality frameworks, including defining rules, writing tests and investigating failures
- Good understanding of data models, databases, data warehouses and data flows
- Experience working with customer data such as profiles, transactions, purchases or interaction events is highly desirable
- Data visualization using Looker/Data Studio or Power BI
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks
- Experience with metadata management and data cataloguing
- Experience working with data contracts and data mappings
- Experience operating within large or complex data environments

- Comfortable presenting data, quality and governance findings to stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Able to translate business requirements into data products, quality rules and governance standards

Details:
- 6 month assignment - intention to extend
- Randstad - hybrid
- This is a secondment / interim payroll contract (No ZZP)
- €90-95k per year / 75-80 per hour
- Including 25 days paid leave a year, Pension and expenses
