What will you be doing?
Driven by our commitment to continuous school improvement, we are seeking an experienced facilities professional to coordinate our operational activities and campus projects. Our department thrives on an informal, no-nonsense culture where teamwork, hard work, and a sense of humour are key. While our immediate team primarily communicates in Dutch, English remains the operational language across the wider school community.
As the central point of contact for the maintenance, safety, and enhancement of our school building and grounds, you will act as a vital link within the organisation. You will work closely with the Head Concierge, Security Coordinator, Events Department, and external contractors. While this is not a hierarchical management position, you will functionally direct internal colleagues and external parties at an operational level. Your broad expertise will allow you to move effortlessly between strategic advice and hands-on action, ensuring optimal working conditions for staff and a safe learning environment for students.
Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you will join us during an incredibly exciting time as we execute a major expansion project featuring a new 22-classroom extension and various internal building refurbishments. This unique undertaking requires a high degree of flexibility, resilience, and sharp organisational insight.
Your main responsibilities:
- Advise the Head of Facility Services and School Leadership on building maintenance, hard services, campus improvements, and process optimisation.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee facilities and campus projects alongside internal team leads and technical contractors.
- Establish clear working arrangements regarding health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards to ensure strict compliance with internal procedures and Dutch ARBO legislation.
- Consult with external vendors and contractors regarding quotations, contract management, and the high-quality execution of works.
- Lead the Emergency Response (BHV) Team, supervising first responders during incidents or drills, coordinating training, and handling post-incident evaluation and reporting.
We are looking for a proactive, internationally-minded team player with strong critical thinking skills (HBO level or equivalent) and excellent interpersonal abilities. You are analytical, highly flexible, and capable of managing complex projects without losing sight of priorities.
- A minimum of an officially recognised MBO+/HBO qualification in Facility Management (or equivalent), combined with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a service-oriented environment. Experience within the educational sector is highly desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge of building operations, budget management, project coordination, and health and safety legislation. Certified emergency response (BHV) experience is an asset.
- Full professional proficiency in both written and spoken English and Dutch.
- A valid right to work in the Netherlands.
What we offer

- Awesome extra perks like tax benefits for your gym membership or a new bicycle, plus discounts on various insurances - including collective disability insurance through Loyalis.
- An amazing 53 days of holiday (426 holiday hours) per year for a full-time contract, which includes public holidays and generally follows the school vacation calendar.
- Plenty of room to grow with us, including your own personal annual training budget to use for professional development.
