Job summary

X4 Life Sciences is seeking an Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join their Southern Netherlands team, focusing on installing and commissioning automated lines across Europe. You will perform testing, tune performance, and handle Siemens PLC programming (TIA Portal) on-site at customer locations.

You’ll train operators, troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems, and ensure clean handover to after-sales. A permanent role with travel and comprehensive on-site support awaits.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Willingness to travel ~80% across Europe.
• Fluent English; German essential.
• Driving licence and access to southern Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission automated lines at customer sites across Europe.
• Test and fine-tune machines to meet performance targets.
• Make on-site PLC programming changes (Siemens TIA Portal) as needed.
• Diagnose and fix electrical, mechanical and pneumatic faults.
• Train customer operators and maintenance teams on new equipment.
• Handover projects cleanly to after-sales service team.

Installation & Commissioning Engineer (Siemens PLC) | Southern Netherlands | Permanent | Travel across Europe

Do you want a hands-on technical role where you get to travel? I’m working with a global manufacturer of industrial automation and robotic packaging systems. They’re growing steadily and want to add an Installation & Commissioning Engineer to their permanent team.

About the company

They design and build automated production lines: robotic palletising, bagging, filling and end-of-line packaging. Their customers run large manufacturing plants all over the world. The European business is growing fast, and they want engineers who will stay, learn their systems and grow with them.

What you’ll be doing

• Installing and starting up automated lines at customer sites, mainly across Europe
• Testing and fine-tuning machines so they hit performance targets
• Making on-site PLC programming changes as needed (Siemens TIA Portal)
• Finding and fixing electrical, mechanical and pneumatic faults
• Training customer operators and maintenance teams on their new equipment
• Handing each project over cleanly to the after-sales service team

What they’re looking for

• An electrical, mechatronic or mechanical engineering background (degree or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems
• Siemens PLC knowledge (TIA Portal V18 ideally). Experience with other PLC platforms is also welcome
• Fluent English and German (essential). Dutch or French is a bonus
• Happy to travel a lot (around 80%)
• A full driving licence and ready access to the southern Netherlands
• New to commissioning? You’ll get full training if you have the technical base
