Location: Netherlands-Based | Extensive International Travel
Employment Type: 12-Month Contract | Possible Extension / Long-Term Potential
About the Role
This opportunity places you within a highly technical international project execution environment focused on thermal energy, heat recovery systems, and large-scale industrial power infrastructure projects worldwide.
Operating globally across complex industrial and utility environments, this organisation specialises in Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), steam systems, and broader power generation infrastructure, working closely with EPC contractors, turbine suppliers, utilities, and industrial clients.
This role would suit someone who enjoys hands‑on engineering, site‑based problem solving, and working within technically demanding industrial environments rather than purely office‑based engineering activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities for HRSG installations and associated systems globally.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities across steam/water systems, burner and air supply systems, feedwater, condensate, blowdown, and control systems.
- Coordinate commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and DCS/PLC disciplines.
- Identify technical deviations and implement corrective actions during startup and commissioning phases.
- Lead and coordinate subcontractors, operators, and local teams during testing and handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards during commissioning activities.
- Prepare commissioning reports, punch lists, testing documentation, and support final customer handover procedures.
- Work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Site Management, EPC contractors, and end clients throughout project execution phases.
- Willingness to travel internationally extensively and work within demanding global commissioning and startup environments (up to 90% travel).
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or a related technical discipline.
- Additional commissioning, power generation, or industrial process certifications would be advantageous.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience within commissioning/start‑up of power plants, HRSGs, steam systems, industrial utilities, or complex process installations.
- Strong operational commissioning exposure within thermal power, EPC, refinery, petrochemical, utilities, or industrial process environments.
- Solid understanding of thermodynamics, steam/water systems, industrial troubleshooting, and process operations.
- Experience with DCS/PLC systems, instrumentation coordination, and industrial control environments.
- Experience operating within international project environments and multicultural site teams.
- Strong communication skills, resilience, operational mindset, and ability to work independently within demanding site environments.
What’s on Offer
- Opportunity to work on complex international thermal power and industrial energy infrastructure projects.
- Highly hands‑on commissioning and startup environment with strong technical exposure across HRSGs, steam systems, utilities, controls, and industrial process operations.
- Extensive international travel and onsite project involvement across large-scale industrial and power generation environments.
- Additional onsite allowances and international project travel compensation.
- Long‑term growth potential and possible permanent opportunity for candidates with strong power plant and HRSG commissioning exposure.
