Job summary

NextEnergy BV in Utrecht is seeking a Software Developer to help scale our smart home battery platform. You will join the Smart Home DevOps team and shape design, development, and maintenance of applications, collaborating with colleagues to deliver real-world impact.

You bring 5+ years backend C#, cloud web app experience, HTML/CSS/JS, and an interest in sustainable energy. We offer a dynamic startup environment with freedom to take initiative and opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development in C# required.
• Experience with cloud web applications and mobile apps preferred.
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
• Experience with low-code development (OutSystems a plus).
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

What will you do?

As a Software Developer, you’ll work within our Smart Home DevOps team, where you get the freedom and autonomy to shape the design, development, and maintenance of our applications together with your colleagues.

When it comes to building our applications, you’ll be involved in the following areas:

1. Back end: Develop and manage integrations with various home batteries and smart devices within household energy systems

2. Algorithms: Improve the algorithms that control customer home batteries and other smart devices

3. Back office: Build internal systems that help streamline and optimize our processes

4. Customer interfaces: Enhance our customer app that shows users their energy savings and battery performance

In addition, you will:

• Collaborate closely with experienced developers, with plenty of freedom to take initiative and shape the products you work on

• Be part of a mature, fast-growing startup focused on innovations that accelerate the energy transition

• Work on smart home solutions: dive into the integration and control of home batteries and smart devices, an essential and rapidly growing field

• Contribute to a product that helps thousands of end users save energy through intelligent control of home batteries and other major household devices. The impact of your work is visible immediately

• Develop applications that process large volumes of data quickly and efficiently

What do you bring?

• Experience developing (cloud) web applications, preferably also mobile applications

• At least 5 years of experience with backend development in C#

• Experience with low-code development (OutSystems is a plus) or the willingness to learn this technology

• Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript

• Experience building robust, testable software

• Knowledge of technical design and architecture

• Interest in smart home batteries and other devices and their role in sustainable energy solutions

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• A motivated mindset: you enjoy taking responsibility and can work both independently and as part of a team

• You feel at home in a dynamic start-up environment
