Job summary

Harnham, Amsterdam-based data consultancy, seeks a Data Business Analyst to shape how trusted data is governed and used across a complex international organisation.

You will own data issues registers, map data flows, document data quality and lineage, and collaborate with IT and data owners to raise governance maturity.

The role offers a salary up to €80,000 with holiday allowance and a bonus, with hybrid working three days per week at the Amsterdam office.

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial experience in business analysis and data governance.
  • Practical knowledge of data governance principles, practices and industry standards.
  • Experience conducting gap analysis, process mapping and data-flow analysis.
  • Identify ambiguity, investigate underlying issues and establish clear requirements.
  • Experience producing structured documentation for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of project-based delivery, including scope, tasks and dependencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build consensus and align stakeholders around business value.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to progress work independently.
  • Experience with data governance tools would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of data-related regulation, including GDPR or the EU AI Act, would be beneficial.
  • A relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop a central Data Issues Register, providing clarity on issues, priorities and required actions.
  • Analyse datasets, processes and data flows across core business systems.
  • Identify and document data quality, data lineage and ownership issues.
  • Build on existing data mapping to understand the current state and define improvements.
  • Produce clear, concise documentation that supports prioritisation and decision-making.
  • Work with Data Owners to agree priorities and improve accountability.
  • Contribute to the development of the Data Dictionary, Business Glossary, Critical Data Elements Register and Data Lineage Repository.
  • Partner with IT teams, Data Stewards, Data Owners and business systems stakeholders.
  • Support the continued development of the wider Data Governance Framework.

This Data Business Analyst role offers the opportunity to shape how trusted data is governed and used across a complex international organisation. You will combine business analysis and data governance to identify data issues, improve data quality and lineage, and support the organisation’s transition towards more advanced data and AI capabilities.

The Company

They are a large international professional services organisation investing in their enterprise data capabilities. Their data governance function is focused on improving ownership, decision-making and collaboration across the business. The environment offers significant scope to establish practical governance processes and create measurable improvements across core business systems. You will join a global data team based in Amsterdam.

The Role

As a Data Business Analyst, you will bridge the gap between current business operations and future enterprise data capabilities. You will:

  • Own and develop a central Data Issues Register, providing clarity on issues, priorities and required actions.
