Job summary

Harnham is seeking a Data Business Analyst to shape how the organisation uses and trusts its data. You’ll sit at the crossroads of business analysis and data governance, improving data quality, governance, and decision-making while laying foundations for future AI capabilities.

You will work in a hybrid setup based in Amsterdam, collaborating with data owners, stewards, and technology teams to mature data practices, support reporting, and enable AI readiness across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Experience with gap analysis, process mapping, and requirements gathering.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and document data flows, processes, and business operations across core systems.
• Investigate data quality and data lineage issues and prioritise improvements.
• Develop and maintain a structured Data Issues Register.
• Produce documentation to support stakeholder decision-making and alignment.
• Contribute to data governance artefacts: data dictionaries, glossaries, lineage docs.
• Collaborate with data owners, stewards, tech teams, and stakeholders to improve data management.
• Support evolution of the data governance framework.
• Help establish trusted data foundations for reporting and AI readiness.

The Role

As a Data Business Analyst, you will sit at the intersection of business analysis and data governance, helping bridge the gap between current operations and future data capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Analyse and document data flows, processes, and business operations across core systems
• Investigate data quality and data lineage issues and help prioritise improvements
• Develop and maintain a structured Data Issues Register
• Produce clear documentation to support stakeholder decision-making and drive alignment
• Contribute to the development of data governance artefacts, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, and lineage documentation
• Work closely with data owners, data stewards, technology teams, and business stakeholders to improve data management practices
• Support the ongoing evolution of the organisation's data governance framework
• Help establish trusted data foundations that enable stronger reporting, operational effectiveness, and AI readiness

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience in business analysis and data governance
• Practical understanding of data governance principles and best practices
• Experience conducting gap analysis, process mapping, and requirements gathering
• Ability to analyse complex data environments and identify improvement opportunities
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build consensus and influence decisions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working in evolving environments where processes and frameworks are being developed
• Understanding of data privacy and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR is advantageous
• Experience with data governance tools is beneficial
