Job summary

BDR Thermea Group is seeking a Business Controller R&D to join the Group Finance & Control team in Apeldoorn, NL. You will provide financial insights, analyses, and reporting to R&D leaders, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and monthly performance reviews across multiple locations.

You will work closely with the Business Controller DU and Senior Business Controller, driving efficiency, cost control, and profitability while contributing to harmonised processes and professionalising R&D finance

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant work experience in a controller, finance partner, or related role.
• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for understanding business performance.
• Excellent command of English and ability to collaborate with international stakeholders.
• Proactive, structured approach to budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver financial analyses and insights to support decision-making for R&D.
• Monitor KPIs and analyse variances between actual, budgeted, and forecasted results.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting across R&D locations.
• Analyse CAPEX and project costs, collaborating with local finance teams to resolve issues.
• Contribute to business cases for new product development and continuous improvement.

Yourrole

As our next Business Controller R&D , you will join the Group Finance & Control team and partner closely withstakeholdersacross BDRThermeaGroup. Together with the Business ControllerDevelopment Units (DU), you willprovidefinancial insights, analyses, and reporting that help R&D leaders make informed decisions and drive efficiency, cost control, and profitability.

You will support budgeting, forecasting, monthly performance reviews, and business cases for new product development(NPD)initiatives. In addition, you will contribute to improvement projects focused onharmonisingprocesses and furtherprofessionalisingR&D finance across the group.

Thisis ahybridrole basedin Apeldoorn,theNetherlands. Wevalueflexibilityandcollaborationandencouragecolleaguestospendatleasttwodaysper week intheoffice.You will receive support for your home office set-up and travel costs.Limited international travel is occasionallyrequired, offering opportunities to connect with colleagues and business partners across our globalorganisation.

You will be part of a close-knitbusinesscontrollingteam of four colleagues, based in Apeldoorn. Together, theinternationalteam partners with both our Development Units and Operationsorganisation, creating a unique opportunity to gain insight into how innovation, manufacturing, and business performance come together. Regular team meetings, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional collaboration provide plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and build a broadprofessionalnetwork.

In this role, you will work closely with the BusinessControllerDU, who will provide day-to-day guidance and coaching, while reporting to the Senior Business Controller. As you grow in the role, you may alsohave the opportunity to broaden your scope by supportingcontrollingactivities within Operations.

Your key tasks

• Deliver financial analyses and insights to support decision-making within our Development UnitR&D.

• Monitor R&D performance through KPIs andanalysevariances between actual, budgeted, and forecasted results.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting processes across multiple R&D locations.

• AnalyseCAPEX, project costs, and people-related costs, and collaborate with local finance teams to resolve issues.

• Contributeto theevaluation ofbusiness casesfor new product development initiatives and support continuous improvement projects.

What you bring

• 2-4years of relevant work experiencein a related role, such as controller, junior controller, business controller, finance business partner or equivalent.

• Strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in understanding how businessesoperate.

• Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and working with large datasets.

• A structured and detail-oriented approach combined with a proactive mindset.

• Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively with international stakeholders.

• AMaster’s degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accounting, ora relateddiscipline.

Nice to have:

• Experience working with Power BI for data interpretation and performance analysis.

• Interest in emerging technologies such as AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
