The Cloud Services function operates within a broader Engineering division focused on innovation, operational excellence, and enterprise-scale technology enablement. The organization primarily utilizes AWS and Microsoft Azure, with a growing presence in Google Cloud.

Role Overview

The Business Architect – Cloud Services plays a strategic leadership role in defining and evolving the architectural vision and roadmap for multi-cloud platforms. Acting as a bridge between business strategy, product management, and technical delivery, this role ensures that cloud initiatives align with enterprise objectives, security requirements, and regulatory standards.

You will collaborate closely with domain leaders across business and technology to steer architectural decisions, provide functional leadership to cloud solution architects, and guide the maturity of cloud services in line with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and continuously evolve the architecture of multi-cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Ensure alignment of cloud strategy with enterprise architecture standards and business goals.
• Promote innovation and standardization in cloud adoption, optimizing for resilience and cost-efficiency.
• Serve as a member of the Engineering Architecture team and report to the Managing Business Architect for the Engineering domain.
• Functionally co-lead the Cloud Services area alongside product and technology leads.
• Provide functional leadership to a team of 5 Solution Architects, each supporting squads aligned with specific cloud technologies.
• Encourage a culture of DevOps maturity and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with enterprise architects, security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure strategic alignment.
• Communicate the cloud architecture vision clearly to senior stakeholders and technical teams.

Innovation & Strategy

• Monitor and assess emerging trends in cloud technologies and platform engineering.
• Champion automation, GitOps practices, and self-service capabilities across the cloud landscape.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including 4+ years in architecture roles within complex enterprise environments.

Technical & Strategic Expertise

• Deep knowledge of AWS and Azure platforms; experience with GCP is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of cloud governance, security, and compliance frameworks.

Leadership & Communication

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across business and IT domains.
• Excellent communication, conceptual thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English (Dutch proficiency is a plus).
