Job summary

Mercor seeks a native Bengali speaker to annotate and transcribe Bengali documents with meticulous attention to layout and content. You will identify and bound meaningful regions, assign type and reading order, link regions to parent figures or tables, and flag unreadable text with precise markers for review.

Daily tasks include metadata capture (language, document type, source, page size) and cross-checking work during peer reviews.

Qualifications

• Native Bengali speaker with full script and conjunct forms.
• Experience working with documents: annotation, transcription, localization or proofreading.
• Be exact: character-level accuracy matters.
• Systematic approach across layouts and pages.
• Comfortable with unfamiliar layouts such as multi-column pages.

Responsibilities

• Open and verify tasks, ensure pages are Bengali and legible.
• Annotate structure: bound regions and assign types and reading order.
• Record relationships between regions and figures/tables.
• Transcribe faithfully in Bengali script, marking unreadable regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, type, source, dimensions, and handwriting flags.
• Participate in peer review of work.
