Job summary

Studio Automated, based in Amsterdam, is redefining AI-driven camera automation for sports productions. We are growing our hardware team to own end-to-end integration, from lab work to on-site venue deployments, with hybrid work from the Amsterdam office overlooking the IJ.

You will join a three-person hardware team and collaborate closely with software and AI engineers to ensure cameras, audio and edge servers operate seamlessly within our automation stack.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with camera and imaging capture and processing.

• Solid knowledge of PC and server hardware.
• Comfortable with on-site calibration and testing at venues.

Job description

Every week, our cameras produce thousands of live broadcasts across more than 15 sports, with no camera operator behind them. As AV Engineer, you make sure the cameras, audio and servers behind every one of them perform.

Based in Amsterdam, overlooking the IJ, Studio Automated develops intelligent technology that automates the pan, tilt and zoom of cameras for sports productions and media environments. Since 2020, our technology has been scaling rapidly across the globe on edge devices and in the cloud.

Our systems run from affordable Streaming setups that let clubs stream every match automatically, to Broadcast-grade multi-camera and VAR solutions for top-level productions. In April 2026, Studio Automated was acquired by two major players in the market, marking the start of our next growth phase as a scale-up company. The best is still ahead, and it is the perfect time to join during the scaling phase.

We are now looking for an experienced AV Engineer to join our hardware team.

The role

Our hardware team is three people, so you own a whole domain: technical integration. You decide how cameras, audio and edge servers come together with our automation software, from the lab to the stadium. You will report to the Head of Hardware.

You will:

• Integrate cameras, audio and edge servers with our automation stack
• Evaluate and qualify new cameras, lenses, audio gear and server hardware
• Set up and tune image and audio capture and processing pipelines
• Calibrate systems and run field tests at venues
• Work closely with our software and AI engineers to solve hardware-software issues
• Document setups so installs are repeatable

Technical profile

Required:

• Hands-on experience with camera and imaging capture and processing
• Experience with audio capture and processing
• Solid knowledge of PC and server hardware
• Comfortable with on-site calibration and testing at venues

Bonus:

• Broadcast or live sports production experience
• Basic knowledge of SDI, NDI, SMPTE ST 2110 and PTZ control
• Networking for AV (IP video, PoE, multicast)
• Video capture cards, GPUs and edge compute
• Linux and scripting (e.g. Python, Bash)

• You like owning a technical area end to end and making the calls
• You stay calm and methodical when something fails an hour before kick-off
• You enjoy being at venues as much as in the lab, and travel to venues when needed
• You explain technical trade-offs clearly to engineers and non-engineers
