Job summary

Hanson Search Ltd. in Amsterdam seeks an Associate Director to join its close-knit Benelux team and act as the right hand to the Managing Director. This senior role leads B2B technology PR for a major account, shaping strategy, client relationships and agency growth.

Our client is a global communications and marketing agency built for category creators and technology-led businesses, with a long heritage in technology PR combined with an integrated, modern approach spanning public relations, digital marketing, content and strategic communications. The agency operates from around 20 offices across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, with more than 600 people worldwide, and is a certified B Corp in both the US and the UK.

Its Amsterdam office is a close-knit Benelux team of around ten PR and communications specialists, based in central Amsterdam, supporting a portfolio of well-known international brands and building visibility and thought leadership across the Benelux market. The office has recently become the base for a new European Center of Excellence for Corporate Affairs, reflecting the agency’s growing strategic investment in the region.

Associate Director, B2B Technology PR, Amsterdam

The agency is looking for an Associate Director to join its Amsterdam team as the right hand to the Managing Director. This is a number two role at the heart of a small, high-performing agency, with direct responsibility for one of the office’s largest B2B technology accounts.

Location: Amsterdam. Open to candidates relocating from London, elsewhere in the Netherlands or Belgium.

You will lead the client service plan for a major account, working closely with the client’s senior stakeholders on strategy, positioning and delivery. Alongside the client work, you will play a central role in shaping the direction of the Amsterdam office, supporting the Managing Director on team management, new business and agency growth.

This is a role for someone who wants genuine seniority and influence within a close-knit team, not a large hierarchy. Someone who will be trusted to run their own client relationships while helping to build the agency around them.

Key responsibilities

Client leadership: B2B technology communications

• Own the service plan and day-to-day relationship for a major B2B technology client, acting as the senior agency contact
• Develop and deliver integrated communications strategies covering media relations, executive positioning, thought leadership and content
• Advise client stakeholders directly on reputation, narrative and communications strategy at a senior level
• Identify opportunities to grow the account and bring in complementary services

Agency leadership and team management

• Act as the Managing Director’s right arm across the Amsterdam office, deputising where needed
• Support the management, mentoring and development of a team of around six consultants
• Contribute to new business, proposals and pitches for the Benelux market
• Help shape agency culture, ways of working and standards of client delivery

Sector focus: technology PR across Benelux

• B2B technology communications, with scope to work across the agency’s wider technology and innovation client base
• Strong understanding of the European and Dutch media landscape
