Job summary

AKQA Amsterdam seeks an Associate Design Director to shape how brands come to life through digital experiences. You will craft interfaces, interactions and systems that feel intuitive and distinctive, blending UX, motion and technology with strong design thinking.

You’ll work hands-on in Figma, build prototypes and contribute to design systems while guiding others toward high craft and impact across products and services.

Qualifications

• Lead the digital craft across digital products, services and experiences.
• Shape experiences by turning brand and human needs into useful, distinctive outputs.
• Translate brand identity into interfaces, interactions, motion, and systems.
• Hands-on in Figma; prototyping early and often to explore ideas.
• Understand UX and human‑centred design; collaborate with experience and service designers.
• Create and evolve scalable, brand-led design systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design direction across digital products and experiences.
• Collaborate with designers, strategists, and technologists to raise craft.
• Develop and maintain design systems, tokens and consistency across platforms.
• Apply AI to prototyping and workflows to explore possibilities.
• Mentor junior designers and uphold design quality from concept to delivery.
