Job summary

MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam City West is seeking a supportive and caring leader with a fun mindset to join our team. This role focuses on guiding the front office team to deliver exceptional guest experiences at a central city location in Amsterdam.

You will drive staff engagement, coordinate with HR on hiring and onboarding, and lead regular meetings to develop skills through training and exchanges. Culinary and guest service aspects are important in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a front office team or similar.
• Able to lead a diverse, motivated team and inspire others.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Solution-oriented with strong commitment and entrepreneurial thinking.
• Leadership skills including coaching, mentoring, feedback and training.

Responsibilities

• Motivate the staff, ensure a pleasant and safe work climate and good cooperation within the team and with other colleagues.
• Collaborate with HR to hire staff and manage on- and offboarding processes.
• Lead regular individual and team meetings and develop skills through training and exchanges.
• Ensure all work equipment and information for guest service is available and optimize workflow.
• Use tools to obtain guest feedback, analyze and categorize it, and coordinate improvements with the Hotel Manager.
• Address guest complaints unresolved by the team and ensure satisfaction with solutions.
• Oversee optimal room distribution and coordinate group room allocations with Groups department.
• Perform regular audits aligned with company standards and initiate corrective actions with Operations Manager.
• Maintain inventory management system, oversee stock-takes, and support monthly closings.

YOUR TASKS

• Motivate the staff, ensures a pleasant and safe work climate and good cooperation within the team and with other colleagues
• To cooperate with the HR department to hire staff, to see the correct on- and offboarding process
• To take a lead in regular individual and team meetings, subsequently developing skills and knowledge through training and workplace exchanges
• Ensuring all work equipment and information required for providing the guests with the best possible service is available, in good condition continuously optimizes clear workflow and definitions
• You are using available tools to obtain feedback from guests: Analyzing and categorizing the feedback, derives activities, and implementing them in coordination with the Hotel Manager
• Attending the complaints from the guests that could not be solved by the team and ensuring that the guest is satisfied with the offered solution
• You see the optimal room distribution by means of conscientious occupancy optimization, coordinate the optimal allocation of group rooms in coordination with the Groups department
• Performing regular audits aligned with company standards, documenting them, and initiating corrective measures in coordination with the Operations Manager
• You are maintaining an inventory management system, overseeing stock-takes in keeping with the provided guidelines, and supporting the preparation of monthly closings

YOUR PROFILE

• You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in leading a front office team or similar
• You enjoy leading a diverse, motivated team and are an inspiring personality
• You are experienced in working in a fast-paced work environment
• You are solution-oriented and convinced with your great commitment and entrepreneurial thinking
• You have leadership skills including: coaching, mentoring, feedback, and training
• You have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and front office systems (e.g. Sihot, Fidelio)
• You have a very good command of written and spoken Dutch and English
