Job summary

Venquis is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines into Snowflake, using dbt for transformations and Python for automation. You will collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions and contribute to analytics, dashboards, and AI initiatives.

The role emphasizes data quality, governance, and integration across cloud platforms, with opportunities to shape the organisation's data platform and analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering.
  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
  • Experience using dbt for transformation, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Good Python skills with API integrations and automation workflows.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and data governance practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and engage with stakeholders.
  • Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

The Role

As a Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, automation, and emerging AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing, building, and maintaining reliable data pipelines into Snowflake from a variety of internal and external data sources.
  • Developing and improving transformation logic using dbt, with a focus on clean, reusable, and well-documented data models.
  • Supporting the creation of trusted datasets for analytics, dashboards, reporting, and AI use cases.
  • Building and maintaining data integrations, APIs, and automation workflows using Python and cloud technologies.
  • Working closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Driving best practices around data quality, testing, monitoring, documentation, and governance.
  • Supporting the development of semantic layers, curated datasets, and reusable business logic.
  • Integrating structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources, including SaaS platforms, APIs, and document repositories.
  • Collaborating with technical and non-technical teams to improve data accessibility, reliability, and usability.
  • Contributing to the ongoing evolution of the organisation's data and analytics platform.
What We're Looking For
  • 4+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse technologies.
  • Experience using dbt for transformation, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Good Python skills, ideally including integrations, APIs, and automation workflows.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, version control, testing, and engineering best practices.
  • Ability to engage with business stakeholders and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar.
Nice to Have
  • Experience building semantic layers.
  • Familiarity with BI and analytics platforms.
  • Experience with modern analytics tooling and self-service reporting environments.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled business workflows and data products.
