Job summary

Walker International Transportation is seeking an All-round Financial Assistant to join a small, hands-on finance team in the Netherlands. The role focuses on accounts payable while supporting accounts receivable and other financial tasks, with Mondays and Fridays fixed.

You will collaborate with the Finance Manager Shirley and colleagues Fleur and Sjunaica, processing invoices, reconciling payments, and assisting with month-end closings.

Are you accurate, hands-on, and do you feel right at home within a financial administration department in the logistics sector? If so, we would love to meet you!

We are looking for an All-round Financial Assistant for 32 hours per week. Depending on where you live, you will work from our office in Nieuw-Vennep, Maastricht, or Venlo.

Your primary focus will be on accounts payable (creditors), but you will also support accounts receivable (debtors) and assist with other financial tasks. Monday and Friday are fixed working days.

What will you do?

You will work closely with Finance Manager Shirley and your colleagues Fleur and Sjunaica. Together, you will ensure that the financial administration is accurate and that invoices, payments, and outstanding balances are properly followed up.

In this role, the emphasis is on accounts payable. In addition, you will assist with accounts receivable and support other financial tasks when needed. This keeps the workload well-distributed and allows the team to cover for one another during busy periods, holidays, or illness.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

• Processing, checking, and booking incoming invoices.
• Matching invoices with transport documents, accruals, and other underlying data.
• Identifying and investigating discrepancies or deviations.
• Preparing incoming invoices for payment.
• Processing and reconciling bank transactions.
• Supporting accounts receivable and credit control.
• Booking non-operational invoices.
• Maintaining contact with suppliers and internal colleagues regarding invoices, payments, and outstanding items.
• Handling reminders and inquiries regarding invoices.
• Supporting month-end closures, audits, and financial reporting.
• Contributing ideas for clear and reliable working methods within the administration.

You will work in a small finance team with short lines of communication. This allows you to quickly see what is going on and learn a lot about the financial side of transport, logistics, and supply chain services.

What do you bring?

You work meticulously and keep a clear overview, even when many invoices, questions, or deadlines come in at the same time. You don’t need to know everything yet, but you do find it important to thoroughly investigate matters and follow through on agreements.

We are looking for someone with:

• An MBO (vocational) level of work and thought, preferably in a financial or administrative direction.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a similar financial role.
• An accurate and structured way of working.
• A sense of responsibility and ownership.
• Good communication skills towards colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
• A good command of the Dutch language.
• A basic knowledge of English, which is useful in an international logistics environment.
• Experience with Excel.
• Availability for 32 hours per week.
• Availability on Mondays and Fridays.

Experience in transport, logistics, freight forwarding, or warehousing is a plus, but not a hard requirement. What matters most is that you are eager to learn, dare to ask questions, and hand over your work neatly.
