Job summary

Marktplaats, based in Amsterdam, seeks an experienced People Operations Lead to own the HRIS, data integrity and payroll-related processes within the People function. You will redesign workflows using automation and AI to simplify operations and improve reliability for employees and managers.

You will join a cross-functional team, collaborating with HR, finance, IT and external providers to ensure compliant, efficient operations and accurate reporting. Fluency in Dutch and English is required.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on People Operations or HR generalist experience, ideally in a fast-paced, technology-led organisation.
Proven experience managing an HRIS, with a solid understanding of how employee data flows across HR, payroll, benefits and other platforms.
Experienced in administering employee changes, payroll inputs and benefits.
Ownership-driven, someone who follows work through and takes pride in delivering accurate, dependable work.
Able to turn inefficient ways of working into practical processes and, using automation and AI pragmatically.
Working knowledge of Dutch employment law, strong project management skills and the ability to communicate effectively across teams and providers.
Must be fluent in Dutch and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

Run day-to-day People Operations across the employee lifecycle, ensuring administration, documentation, approvals and system updates are completed accurately and on time.
Own our HRIS and connected People platforms, keeping data accurate, secure and compliant across HR, payroll, benefits and performance systems.
Coordinate payroll inputs, salary and leave changes and benefits enrolment, and be the go-to person for employees and managers on People processes and benefits.
Redesign workflows and use automation and AI to reduce manual work and create simpler, more reliable processes with appropriate controls.
Partner with People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, IT, Payroll and external providers to resolve issues, maintain policies and deliver reliable reporting.
