Job summary

Progressive is seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Specialist for an interim maternity-cover role in the Utrecht region. The position is full-time (38–40 hours) with a hybrid model (minimum on-site Mondays and ideally one additional office day) from 4 January 2027 to 16 April 2027.

You will lead regulatory activities for a dairy-focused, international B2B food business, collaborating with Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing to ensure compliance across markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Regulatory Affairs experience in the food industry.
• Strong dairy sector expertise.
• Experience in a Business-to-Business (B2B) environment.
• Solid understanding of food legislation and labeling.

Responsibilities

• Monitor global food legislation and regulatory updates for compliance risks.
• Review and approve product labels, packaging, and claims.
• Provide regulatory guidance across product development from concept to launch.
• Perform regulatory risk assessments and impact analyses.
• Advise stakeholders on food law and labeling requirements.

We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join a dynamic BG QA team supporting an international B2B food business. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing, helping the organisation navigate food legislation and regulatory requirements across multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor global food legislation, regulatory updates, and industry developments, assessing potential business impact and compliance risks.
• Review and approve product labels, packaging artwork, product claims, and communication materials.
• Provide regulatory guidance throughout innovation and product development projects, from concept to market launch.
• Perform regulatory risk assessments and impact analyses for products, ingredients, packaging changes, and legislative developments.
• Advise internal stakeholders on food law, labelling requirements, customer requirements, and compliance-related matters.
• Support the identification, assessment, and resolution of regulatory and compliance issues.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, standards, guidelines, and compliance processes.
• Deliver training sessions and workshops to increase regulatory awareness within the organisation.
• Collaborate with regulatory colleagues across multiple countries to ensure compliance in international markets.
• Develop expertise in specialised areas such as sustainability, contaminants, packaging, nutrition, and food claims.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of Regulatory Affairs experience within the food industry.
• Strong experience within the dairy sector.
• Experience working in a Business-to-Business (B2B) environment.
• Solid understanding of food legislation, labelling, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to assess regulatory impact and translate requirements into practical business actions.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and become productive quickly within an interim assignment.

Preferred

• Experience working within international or global food organisations.
• Knowledge of sustainability, nutrition, packaging, food claims, or contaminants legislation.

Team

You will join a broader BG QA team of approximately 25 professionals across the Netherlands and Belgium, including QA Sales and QA Complaints specialists. The Regulatory Affairs team consists of one manager and two specialists, located in Amersfoort and Lummen.
