Job summary

AME Construction Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Welding Engineer to drive welding quality across fabrication and on-site activities in Malaysia.

You will develop welding procedures, qualification records, and ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, and ISO standards. The role involves coordinating with engineers, QA/QC, clients, and inspectors to uphold project quality and schedule. Ideal candidates hold a welding engineering degree with 1–5 years of experience and familiarity with AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding/related field.
• 1–5 years of welding engineering experience.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO standards.
• CWI/CSWIP certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records per AWS, ASME, ISO and project needs.
• Ensure welding activities meet quality standards during fabrication and site erection.
• Monitor weld preparation, welding parameters, consumables, and post-weld requirements.
• Coordinate welding inspections and NDT activities (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT).
• Investigate welding defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain welding documentation including weld maps, logs, and quality dossiers.
• Provide technical support to welders, supervisors, and QA/QC teams.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA/QC, Clients, and inspectors to meet quality and schedule goals.
• Ensure calibration of welding and inspection equipment and compliance with QMS/HSE.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Welding, Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 1-5 years of experience in welding engineering, steel structure fabrication, and construction projects.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO 15614, ISO 9606, and related welding standards.
• AWS CWI or CSWIP 3.0 certification is an advantage.
• Familiarity with welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW), NDT methods, welding metallurgy, and quality control.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.
