Job summary

Penang Automation Cluster Sdn. Bhd. (PAC) is seeking a welding technician to read drawings, set up welds, and perform welding on various components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.

The role requires monitoring machinery, inspecting welds with proper tools, and ensuring safety compliance while collaborating with team members in PAC's metal fabrication hub.

Qualifications

• Possess a Certificate, Professional Certificate, or Diploma in Welding or Welding Technology.
• 2–3 years of relevant work experience and training, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
• Able to perform accurate measurements and calculations for welding tasks.
• Proficient in understanding technical drawings, blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols.
• Demonstrate good workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Read work instructions and engineering drawings to plan welding layouts and processes.
• Select welding equipment or methods based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Weld small or large components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Monitor welding machinery during operation and maintain safe temperatures.
• Inspect welded surfaces and components against requirements using inspection tools.
• Adhere to safety regulations and wear appropriate protective gear.
• Maintain housekeeping at workstations and report defects to supervision.
• Collaborate with team members across levels of the organization.

Job description

To understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading work instruction, engineering drawings and take measurements to plan layout and processes.

To determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based onrequirements.

To setup components for welding in accordance to the specifications.

To perform welding forsmall or large components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions in accordance to the specifications.

To monitor welding machinery while work in progress to ensure appropriate usage and temperature.

To check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.

To inspect the welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors by comparing them with requirements using proper inspection tools to determine if the process has been completed properly.

To adhere and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes while performing welding.

To be responsible for the welding parts and also take charge of the bending materials.

To ensure the correct materials and correct quantity is in place.

To maintain proper housekeeping at all times in workstations.

To highlight to Supervisor when suspected defective parts are being produced.

To perform any other duties assigned by supervisor or manager from time to time.

Job Requirements :

Possess a Certificate, Professional Certificate, or Diploma in Welding or Welding Technology, or have 2–3 years of relevant work experience and training, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.

Able to perform accurate measurements and calculations for welding tasks.

Proficient in understanding technical drawings, blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols.

Demonstrate good workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Able to work collaboratively with team members and employees across different levels of the organization.

Demonstrate a positive attitude towards learning and continuous technical development.
