Job summary

AEON FACILITIES MANAGEMENT SDN.BHD is seeking a skilled technician to operate the Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS) at our Shah Alam facility. You will follow SOPs, manage treatment units, monitor performance, and keep accurate, audit-ready records.

Responsibilities include routine sampling, adjusting chemical dosing per procedures, and coordinating with maintenance for major repairs. A strong focus on environmental compliance, safety, and documentation is essential.

Qualifications

• Valid PCP and BP certifications are mandatory.
• 1–3 years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment.
• Food or manufacturing environment experience preferred.

Job description

Operate the Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS) according to SOPs, including:

• Equalization tanks
• Physical / chemical treatment units (e.g. DAF)
• Biological treatment systems (e.g. SBR, MBBR, activated sludge)
• Sludge handling and dewatering (if applicable)

Monitor system performance and process parameters such as:

• pH, flow rate, temperature
• COD / BOD / TSS / Oil & Grease (as per monitoring plan)

Adjust chemical dosing (PAC, polymer, acids/alkalis) under approved procedures.

Monitoring & Record Keeping

Conduct routine sampling and on-site testing according to the monitoring schedule.

Record operational data accurately in:

• Logbooks / electronic logs
• Daily and weekly inspection checklists

Support laboratory sampling and ensure proper sample handling and labeling.

Maintain clear, traceable, and audit-ready records.

Compliance & Safety

Perform duties in compliance with:

• Environmental Quality Act 1974
• Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009

Follow all EHS requirements, including:

• Chemical handling and storage
• Spill and emergency response procedures

Report abnormal conditions, alarms, or potential non-compliance immediately to supervisors.

Inspection & Basic Maintenance

Conduct routine inspections of:

• Pumps, blowers, mixers, valves, and pipelines
• Online instruments (pH meters, flow meters, turbidity meters)

Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as:

• Cleaning strainers and tanks
• Checking chemical dosing pumps
• Minor troubleshooting under supervision

Coordinate with maintenance teams for major repairs.

Must hold valid DOE IETS Competent Person (PCP) and BP certifications.

PCP & BP certificates are mandatory for this position.

1–3 years of experience in:

Industrial wastewater treatment operations

Food or manufacturing environment preferred

Basic understanding of wastewater parameters:

pH, COD, BOD, TSS, Oil & Grease

Ability to operate IETS equipment, conduct routine monitoring, complete log sheets, and follow SOPs.

Good understanding of environmental compliance, chemical handling, PPE, and emergency response procedures.
