Job summary

Hong Leong Assurance Berhad is seeking a Unix/Linux System Administrator to manage the Linux Cloud (Red Hat OCP/OCPV) and oversee upgrades, migrations, and daily operations. You will troubleshoot complex system issues, maintain backup and recovery strategies, and participate in disaster recovery exercises within the bank and HL group.

Job description

Overall Responsibilities

To manage the Linux Cloud (Redhat OCP/OCPV);

To oversee (which include upgrade/migration) all existing systems as needed and ensure secure, reliable and stable operations of the Unix/Linux systems;

To perform troubleshooting services to isolate, diagnose and fix problems related to system.

To oversee backup and recovery strategy for all Unix-based system, and manage proper storage allocation and management of overall storage unit;

To participate DR exercise within the bank and HL group of companies

To ensure an accurate record reflecting the current and historical system parameter and configuration setting (which will include system patches and fixes) including justifications for these settings and the configuration option decision making process

Management Reporting & Compliance

Notify management about potential problems associated with system health, systems and resource bottlenecks within the team.

Provide statistic on the systems performance i.e. system load, response time and available disk space.

Ensure security procedures and audit requirements are adhered to at all times.

Supervise all 3rd party hardware/software service personnel who are attending to a service call and required to be in the Data Centre facility.

Participate in other working groups of small projects undertaken by the department on issues with regards to System Administration.

Qualification Requirements

Malaysian citizen with a Recognized Degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent.

At least 3-4 years of hands- on experience in Unix-based System Administration.

Manage large-scale virtualized environments running on AIX, Solaris, and Red Hat.Advanced roles may require experience with Red Hat OpenShift (OCP), Kubernetes, IBM PowerHA, or Pacemaker cluster management.

Implement and maintain automation scripts using tools likeBash, Python, and Ansibleto streamline infrastructure tasks.

Perform regular system upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.

Respond to high-severity issues, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and adhere to ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.

Certifications:Certification in System Administration preferred (e.g. RHCE).For advanced roles, Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) is highly desirable.ITIL certification is an added advantage.
