Job summary

BAYU PURNAMA SDN BHD is seeking a Turnaround Project Engineer for rotating equipment in the Bintulu oil and gas sector. You will coordinate overhaul, maintenance, and project execution of critical assets like compressors and pumps during plant shutdowns.

Role involves planning, supervising onsite contractor work, ensuring HSE/QAQC compliance, and overseeing commissioning and startup handovers to operations. 3–6+ years in related fields preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–6+ years of experience in oil and gas plant maintenance/turnarounds.
• Hands-on with rotating machinery, alignment, seals, and diagnostics.
• Strong contractor management and cross-functional communication.
• Ability to work under tight schedules with safety and QA/QC focus.

A Turnaround Project Engineer for rotating equipment in the Bintulu oil and gas sector coordinates the overhaul, maintenance, and project execution of critical assets like compressors and pumps during plant shutdowns.

Job Description:-

Role Purpose: Manage and execute mechanical rotating equipment scopes (pumps, turbines, compressors, gearboxes) during plant Turnarounds (TA) or shutdowns safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Planning Phase: Develop detailed work breakdown structures, schedules, and resource allocation plans for overhauls. Coordinate material, spare parts, and specialized tooling procurement.

Execution Phase: Supervise onsite contractor execution during the shutdown window. Monitor daily progress against baseline schedules and troubleshoot emerging mechanical issues.

Quality & Safety: Enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols during high-intensity site work.

Commissioning: Oversee equipment box-up, pre-commissioning, and safe startup handovers to operations.

Key Requirements:-

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Experience: 3 to 6+ years of total engineering experience, with specific hands-on involvement in oil, gas, refinery, or petrochemical plant maintenance/turnarounds.

Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with rotating machinery mechanics, alignment, seal systems, and diagnostic troubleshooting.

Soft Skills: Strong contractor management, multidisciplinary communication, and crisis-management capabilities under tight schedules
