Job summary

Bunge is seeking a Malaysia-based Trader to lead local market access and CNF/FOT sales for meal and corn from Kuala Lumpur. The role will manage local stakeholders, customers, and the commercial team, executing the Malaysia marketing plan and delivering open demand visibility.

The successful candidate will partner with freight, logistics, and trade execution, provide market intelligence and SND updates, and optimize FOT operations to build sustainable margins for Bunge in SE Asia.

Malaysia is a consistent importer of feed ingredients in SE Asia with structural deficit of soy meal proteins and corn. The market structure has changed from CNF to FOT purchases by the local feed mills. Bunge has refreshed its market access strategy to build direct access to local feed-mills on FOT terms in addition to its usual CNF customers to build a consistent volume and closer intimacy with the customers for long term business success and sustainability.

The role incumbent will be Bunge’s point person for Malaysia to manage local stakeholders, customers and commercial team. Incumbent will be primarily accountable for executing Malaysia marketing plan for meal and corn, CNF and FOT sales of assigned customers, pipeline execution management, FOT operations and be the point person for local market intelligence and SND updates.

The role incumbent will actively partner with freight, logistics, trade execution and other functions like TSF, FRM & Sustainability to create maximum opportunities and value for Bunge.

Customer Access (CNF Marketing & FOT Distribution)

• Build local customer access for the assigned customers for SBM and Corn
• Work closely with the value chain team in Singapore for executing the CNF sales & FOT sales/distribution plans, customer pricing and other executions functions
• Be accountable for building deeper customer connectivity and relationship with targeted customers and bringing real time demand visibility and selling skills to close the sales
• Be responsible for providing insights on customer demand, local stocks and competition program to VC team in Geneva/Singapore to profitably build & execute the vessel programs
• Actively engage and collaborate with logistics and trade execution for superior customer service and efficient execution management of CNF and FOT sales and operations
• Effectively manage the FOT operations and handling costs to earn the handling cost arbitrages as structural margins in the business
• Develop operational efficiencies leading to better P&L for Bunge as a whole, such as port swaps, month swaps, early collection of cargo and forex payment efficiencies etc.
• Build collaborative network with local partners, warehouses, stevedores for effectively executing the FOT program at most cost-effective manner
• Build collaborative network with local competition and customers for cargo swapping for building vessel efficiencies on port rotation and vessel upsizing
• Work closely with the Research team and be responsible for daily price discovery of the local market, competition activities, local stocks and industry profitability
• Provide extensive insights and regular updates into Malaysia’s open demand coverage/balance scorecard and forward curve visibility and consumption patterns for the broiler and layer markets,
• Provide extensive insights for the local grains and oilseeds prices as well as the local supply and demand at the main ports to identify potential arbitrage opportunities
• Be responsible for updating, reporting and sharing Malaysia SND and BSC analytics data with research and commercial teams in the format as prescribed from time to time
• Provide extensive competition analysis and daily updates on competition program
