TRILIGHT OPTICS (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD in Penang is seeking a Test Engineer to join our Electrical/Electronic Engineering team in Perai. You will develop, execute, and oversee comprehensive testing protocols for optical and electronic products to ensure performance, reliability, and safety before customers.

As a Test Engineer, you will handle anomalies, conduct root-cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing yields.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience as a Test Engineer or in a quality assurance/testing role within electrical/electronic/optical manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of electronic testing methodologies and equipment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, IEC standards, or equivalent quality frameworks.
• For Senior roles: 5+ years of test engineering experience with leadership exposure.

About the role

TRILIGHT OPTICS (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD is seeking a Test Engineer or Senior Test Engineer to join our Electrical/Electronic Engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Perai, Penang. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing comprehensive testing protocols and quality assurance procedures for our optical and electronic products. You will play a critical part in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety before they reach our customers. Key responsibilities

• Promptly handle various testing anomalies during the production process to ensure smooth production line testing; conduct root cause analysis on defective products, formulate and implement improvement measures, and continuously improve testing yield and first‑pass yield
• Conduct product technology requirements surveys and feasibility studies to provide a basis for decision‑making in terms of testing dimensions for new product project initiation
• Participate in the pre‑research project approval review, refine testing tasks based on the review results, and report and execute them according to the established procedures
• Organize and compile technical documents such as product internal control testing standards, testing specifications, and test outlines
• Participate in technical reviews at all stages of product design and development, and provide optimization suggestions from a testing perspective
• Develop a project testing implementation plan, and organize its execution after approval
• In coordination with project progress, provide testing‑related technical support to production, marketing, and customers
• Break down departmental quality objectives to individual and project team levels, track progress, and develop corrective and preventative measures
• Undertake research projects on testing technology innovation and participate in the company's technology research and development and commercialization projects
• Plan testing resources rationally, control testing costs, and cooperate with the finance department to carry out cost accounting and internal control work
• Strictly adhere to the company's confidentiality policy and properly safeguard test data and technical documents
• Complete other work tasks assigned by superiors
• For Senior Test Engineer positions: lead testing teams, mentor junior test engineers, and oversee the development of testing methodologies and standards

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
• Proven experience as a Test Engineer or in a similar quality assurance or testing role within the electrical, electronic, or optical manufacturing industry
• Strong knowledge of electronic testing methodologies, measurement techniques, and test equipment operation
• Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analysers, and optical testing instruments
• Experience with automated testing systems and test software development is highly desirable
• Solid understanding of industry standards and quality assurance practices, such as ISO 9001, IEC standards, or equivalent quality frameworks
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex technical data
• Strong communication skills and ability to document findings clearly and professionally
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and procedures
• For Senior Test Engineer applicants: minimum 5+ years of test engineering experience, leadership experience with technical teams, and proven track record of implementing testing innovations
• Experience with optical components, fibre optics, or optoelectronic systems is advantageous
