Job summary

TRILIGHT OPTICS (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD is seeking a Process Engineer or Senior Process Engineer to join our Penang facility in Perai. This full-time role focuses on designing, implementing and improving manufacturing processes while upholding stringent quality standards.

You will optimise production processes, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support our growth in optical component production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical or related discipline).
• 3-5 years' experience in process engineering or manufacturing operations (5+ years for Senior Process Engineer level).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process optimisation and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems.
• Experience with CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in team environments.
• Experience in optical manufacturing or precision engineering is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar improvement methodologies is preferred.
• Professional engineering certification or membership in relevant professional bodies is advantageous.
• For Senior Process Engineer: Demonstrated experience in leading process improvement projects and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Formulate short-term goals and long-term plans for process technology development, and output feasible implementation measures.
• Prepare product process flow diagrams and work instructions, formulate material consumption quotas, and design and verify tooling fixtures.
• Lead the development of new product trial production plans, coordinate resources from production, testing and other departments, and track the rectification and closure of trial production issues.
• Go deep into the production line, inspect the implementation of processes, and promptly resolve technical problems encountered during production.
• In coordination with the human resources department, conduct process skills training for production personnel.
• Conduct trial production and verification of new processes, technologies, and materials, and promote the application of mature processes in production.
• Organize process schedule coordination meetings to adjust task allocation appropriately; if any major issues affecting the schedule arise, report them promptly and propose adjustment plans.
• Initiate and track the technology change process, clarify the handling plans for products in transit, in-process, and in inventory, and ensure that the changes are implemented without any omissions.
• Strictly implement confidentiality regulations and properly safeguard process documents and technical data.
• Complete other work tasks assigned by superiors.
• For Senior Process Engineer level: Mentor and guide junior process engineers and provide technical leadership within the department.

About the role
