Role covers testing, process documentation, and equipment maintenance across prototypes and mass production, with emphasis on data accuracy and adherence to SOPs for quality optics and electronics

Qualifications

Technician (Test / Process / Maintenance)

About the role

TRILIGHT OPTICS (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD is seeking a skilled and dedicated Technician (Test / Process / Maintenance) to join our Engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Perai, Penang, where you will play a crucial role in supporting our electrical and electronic engineering operations. As a Technician, you will be responsible for conducting tests, managing manufacturing processes, and maintaining equipment to ensure optimal performance and quality standards. This position is integral to our commitment to delivering excellence in optics and electronic engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

Test Technician

Assist engineers in completing functional and performance testing and preliminary evaluation of prototypes

Assist in compiling test reports, technical forms, and other documents, and track the approval progress of documents

Collaborate with engineers to conduct optimization and verification work related to product performance, cost, and yield

Assist in verifying and testing the specifications of new and alternative materials, and participate in the tracking of small-batch trial production

Assist in resolving hardware design and testing compatibility issues exposed during the pilot and mass production phases, and work together to complete the process transition to mass production

Assist engineers in conducting preliminary inspections of faulty products, summarize the fault symptoms, and record the implementation status of improvement measures

Responsible for the entire sample management process, including material requisition, submission for inspection, testing, and return, and providing timely feedback on any issues encountered during the trial production process

Accurately record test data, classify and archive it as required, and ensure data traceability

Adhere to confidentiality regulations and do not disclose product technical parameters and test data

Complete other work tasks assigned by superiors

Process Technician

Assist in the preparation and organization of process documents and work instructions, ensuring that the document versions are correct and the labels are clear

Participate in on-site coordination work for new product trial production, and accurately record process parameters, equipment status, and abnormal situations

Supervise frontline production workers to ensure they operate according to SOPs, promptly correct any violations, and report them to the engineer

Collect data on yield, efficiency, and defect types during the production process, and compile them into statistical reports as required

Assist engineers in conducting process improvement experiments, record the experimental process and results, and compile comparative data

Participate in process training, learn and convey new operational requirements to frontline staff

Manage process-related samples, tooling, and auxiliary materials, and maintain proper labeling and record-keeping

Update process change records as required, and organize and archive various process ledgers

Comply with workshop ESD, cleanliness and confidentiality management regulations

Complete other work tasks assigned by superiors

Maintenance Technician

Assist engineers in conducting equipment research, selection, and acceptance of new equipment upon delivery

Complete daily equipment inspections, periodic maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication as planned, and fill out maintenance records

Responsible for equipment ledger registration, numbering and labeling, issuance and return, and file updates

Promptly identify and report equipment malfunctions, and cooperate with engineers to troubleshoot and complete repairs

Cooperate with the metrology and calibration agency to complete the periodic calibration of equipment as required, affix the qualification label, and keep the calibration certificate

Assist engineers in the disassembly, assembly, and debugging of equipment for modification and upgrades

Comply with equipment safety operation, ESD, and workshop management regulations

Complete other work tasks assigned by superiors

What we're looking for

Vocational qualification, diploma or equivalent certification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related technical field

Proven experience working as a technician in electrical, electronic or manufacturing environments, preferably in the optics or precision engineering industry

Proficiency in using testing equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes and other diagnostic instruments

Strong understanding of electrical circuits, electronic components and manufacturing processes

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently

Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records

Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a collaborative team

Good communication skills and willingness to take on additional responsibilities

Physical capability to perform tasks that may involve standing for extended periods and handling equipment and materials

Familiarity with quality assurance procedures and safety protocols is highly desirable
