Job summary

Michael Holmes Resources is seeking a Test Engineer for a leading electronics manufacturer in Penang. The role focuses on testing, failure analysis, and process improvement with 1–2 years of experience, exposure to PCBA troubleshooting, and close collaboration with production and quality teams.

You will work with test equipment, maintain test reports and specifications, and support new product introduction. Fresh grads with strong lab or project exposure will also be considered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer, is hiring a Test Engineer to support their production and quality teams. This role suits an engineer with 1–2 years of experience who wants to build a career in electronics testing, failure analysis, and process improvement. You'll get direct exposure to test equipment, PCBA troubleshooting, and new product introduction work, with support from senior engineers along the way.

What You'll Do

• Support the setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting of testing equipment and fixtures
• Help analyze test results and flag product or process issues to seniors
• Assist with failure analysis and root-cause investigation under supervision
• Work with Production and Quality teams to resolve day-to-day testing issues
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and qualification activities
• Help maintain test specifications, work instructions, and test reports
• Assist with validation checks on test equipment and fixtures
• Monitor test yield and escalates issues where corrective action may be needed
• Support preventive maintenance and calibration of test equipment
• Provide basic guidance to production operators on testing steps
• Follow company quality standards and safety requirements at all times
• Contribute ideas in continuous improvement projects

What We're Looking For

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in testing, manufacturing, or electronics (fresh grads with strong lab/project exposure will also be considered)
• Basic understanding of electronic circuits, components, and electrical measurements
• Willingness to learn PCBA troubleshooting techniques on the job
• Comfortable following test procedures and documentation
• Good troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail
