Job summary

Setsu Precision Technology (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to ensure CNC machines and related equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, and support continuous improvement to minimize downtime and meet production requirements.

You will diagnose alarms, replace defective components, calibrate machines, maintain fluids and lubrication systems, read electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings, and

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in mechanical/electrical/mechatronics or related field.
• 2–5 years of CNC machine maintenance experience (depending on level).
• Experience maintaining CNC machining centres, turning centres and auxiliary equipment.
• Knowledge of TPM/5S/Lean manufacturing is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance according to the maintenance schedule.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and lubrication system failures on CNC machines.
• Diagnose machine alarms and identify root causes of equipment breakdowns.
• Replace defective machine components such as bearings, ball screws, linear guides, belts, motors, sensors, solenoids and hydraulic/pneumatic parts.
• Perform machine alignment, leveling, backlash checks, and accuracy verification.
• Maintain CNC machine coolant, lubrication, and hydraulic systems.
• Coordinate with production personnel to minimize machine downtime.
• Record all maintenance activities, spare parts used, and machine history.
• Assist in machine installation, commissioning, relocation, and acceptance testing.
• Support continuous improvement projects to increase machine reliability and OEE.
• Monitor machine conditions and recommend corrective or preventive actions before failures occur.
• Maintain housekeeping and comply with safety regulations.
• Ensure maintenance tools and measuring equipment are calibrated.
• Assist in spare parts inventory management and recommend critical stock levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To ensure all CNC machines and related equipment are maintained in safe, reliable, and efficient operating condition by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement activities to minimize machine downtime and support production requirements.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of CNC machining centres, CNC lathes, and machining processes.
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of PLC systems and CNC controls (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens, or equivalent).
• Ability to troubleshoot servo systems, spindle systems, sensors, and electrical circuits.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, micrometres, and laser alignment equipment.
• Good understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting and documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in CNC machine maintenance (depending on the position level).
• Experience maintaining CNC machining centres, CNC turning centres, and auxiliary production equipment.
• Knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), 5S, and Lean Manufacturing is an advantage.
