Job summary

The Technical Specialist Trainee role offers structured training in production processes and technical support within a semiconductor environment. Trainees will begin with process familiarisation, machine operation, plant layout, product models, and quality requirements, then progress toward machine programming, setup, service, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Certificate / Diploma / TVET qualification. Minimum Certificate level; Diploma holders are preferred for progression into more advanced technical support responsibilities
• Qualification in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related technical fields

Responsibilities

• Understand the overall manufacturing process flow, equipment functions, and plant layout
• Learn the correct machine operating instructions, standard operating procedures (SOP), and authorised operating methods
• Assist with machine and equipment setup, basic parameter checking, and routine production support under supervision
• Develop familiarity with standard products, process requirements, and production line workflow
• Learn the SMT program requirements for different product models and materials
• Monitor the line against the 2Q requirements: output Quantity and Quality parameters
• Record production results and report machine, process, material, or quality abnormalities to the responsible technical personnel
• Support machine setup, process monitoring, output quantity checks, and quality verification under supervision
• Assist with machine programming, configuration, setup changes, and parameter optimisation according to approved procedures
• Support machine and equipment servicing, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and basic troubleshooting

Job description

The Technical Specialist Trainee will undergo structured training in production processes and technical support within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The first stage focuses on process familiarisation, machine and equipment operation, plant layout, product models, materials, output quantity, and quality requirements. As competency develops, the trainee will progress into more detailed technical support involving machine programming, equipment setup, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The role is intended to develop trainees toward Technical Specialist and Assistant Engineer responsibilities while working with advanced and high-value semiconductor end-line machinery and equipment.

About you

• Certificate / Diploma / TVET qualification. Minimum Certificate level; Diploma holders are preferred for progression into more advanced technical support responsibilities
• Qualification in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related technical fields
• Follow all occupational safety, quality, manufacturing, and equipment-handling requirements
• Operate or work on advanced semiconductor end-line machines only within the trainee's authorised competency level and under appropriate supervision
• Maintain accurate production, quality, machine, service, and maintenance records where required
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and organisation according to 5S practices

With our strong affiliation with key industry associations, the Ministry of Education had appointed MIT Academy as the 1st Private Technical College in 2012 offering the Malaysian Vocational Diploma programme for our PT3 graduate students for a 4-year engineering diploma course.

From year 2015 - 2017, MIT Academy was appointed by Omron, Bosch Rexroth, Fanuc, SMC, Mazak, Autodesk, Carey Training and America Welding Society as Licensed Training Centre, Licensed Technology Partner and Authorised Training Centre (ATC) to conduct technology courses for corporate trainees.

In 2019, the company has built MITstem International School which is the 1st STEM school in Malaysia providing a combination of Academic IGCSE and STEM curriculum to gear our students for the 21st century technological challenges.

Beginning 2023, MIT Academy has setup the latest MITMetaverse Innovation Training Centre to cater to the professional development of working adults and fresh graduates.
