Job summary

Industrial Water Engineers (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to blend engineering know-how with business development in the water and wastewater sector.

The role involves identifying new opportunities, engaging industrial clients, conducting site visits and developing technical proposals. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required, with Mandarin proficiency preferred for Mandarin-speaking customers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant technical experience in the industrial water and wastewater treatment industry.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin proficiency is required, as the role involves serving Mandarin-speaking customers.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities through prospecting, cold calling, networking, customer visits and industry events.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with industrial customers and understand their operational and technical needs.
• Conduct site visits and surveys to understand existing systems, operational challenges and water/wastewater treatment requirements.
• Apply knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, including RO, UF, MBR, biological treatment, filtration and related technologies, to identify suitable solutions.
• Translate customer requirements into practical and cost-effective technical solutions, working closely with the Application/Process team.
• Prepare and present technical proposals, quotations and solution concepts, and manage opportunities through negotiation and project award.
• Work closely with the Sales, Application, Process and Project teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound and commercially viable.
• Provide technical and commercial support during customer discussions and project site visits, including troubleshooting and follow-up on project and payment-related matters when required.
• Prepare monthly sales forecasts, activity reports and project updates, while continuously developing technical knowledge and keeping up with industry trends and new treatment technologies.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical or a related discipline.

Minimum 2 years of relevant technical experience in the industrial water and wastewater treatment industry.

Good technical understanding of industrial water and wastewater treatment processes, systems and equipment.

Strong problem-solving, analytical and learning skills, with the ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into practical solutions.

Technical sales or business development experience is an advantage, but we value technical capability and potential just as much.
