Job summary

Ovivo Malaysia is seeking a Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and manage end-to-end execution of industrial water treatment projects, including fabrication, installation, and commissioning. You will develop schedules, allocate resources, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

The role requires 2–5 years of relevant experience in project/production engineering and a Diploma or Degree in an engineering discipline, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Based in Penang office/workshop; willing to travel extensively or be stationed near Kuala Lumpur as required by business needs.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in project engineering, production engineering, fabrication, construction, commissioning, or industrial water treatment systems.
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes, piping systems, welding practices, structural works, skid-mounted systems, and engineering standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, fabrication drawings, 3D models, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong project coordination, planning, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with quality management requirements, inspection processes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage project execution, fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, commissioning, and service activities for industrial water treatment systems and related equipment.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, production plans, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion of projects and delivery targets.
  • Monitor project, fabrication, and construction progress to ensure compliance with schedules and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, production, QA/QC, project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers for smooth execution.
  • Supervise fabrication processes including welding, piping, structural fabrication, skid assembly, and equipment integration.
  • Review engineering documents and provide technical guidance where necessary.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor material requirements, issue procurement requisitions, coordinate with procurement, and minimize wastage.
  • Maintain documentation and records including inspection, welding, material traceability, and O&M manuals.
  • Work with QA/QC to ensure compliance with quality standards and contractual specifications.
  • Promote safety policies and practices across workshops and projects.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and productivity gains.
  • Assist in planning, technical reviews, cost estimation, constructability reviews, and project handover.
  • Support routine service work, maintenance activities, and field operations as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

• Plan, coordinate, and manage project execution, fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, commissioning, and service activities for industrial water treatment systems and related equipment.

• Develop and maintain project schedules, production plans, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion of projects and delivery targets.

• Monitor project, fabrication, and construction progress, including site activities, manufacturing processes, and workshop operations, to ensure compliance with project schedules and quality requirements.

• Coordinate closely with design, procurement, production, QA/QC, project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to ensure smooth execution of projects and production activities.

• Supervise fabrication processes including welding, piping, structural fabrication, skid assembly, and equipment integration, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.

• Review technical documents such as engineering drawings, 3D models, Bills of Materials (BOM), specifications, and fabrication drawings, and provide technical guidance where necessary.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to workshop personnel, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors during fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.

• Monitor material requirements, prepare procurement requisitions, coordinate with procurement teams, and ensure timely availability of materials and components while minimizing wastage.

• Ensure proper documentation and records are maintained, including inspection reports, welding records, material traceability documents, project reports, and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.

• Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with quality standards, inspection requirements, testing procedures, and contractual specifications.

• Promote and ensure compliance with company safety policies, risk assessments, and safe work practices across workshop and project sites.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, productivity enhancement, and efficient utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.

• Liaise with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and regional teams to support project execution, contract fulfilment, and customer satisfaction.

• Assist in project planning, technical reviews, cost estimation, constructability reviews, and project handover activities.

• Support routine and ad hoc service work, maintenance activities, and field operations as required.

• Any other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the immediate superior from time to time.

Job Requirements :

• Based in Office / Workshop in Penang and MUST be willing to travel extensively or be stationed in the Kuala Lumpur area as required by business needs.
