Job summary

Edmund Optics Singapore is hiring a Business Development Engineer to grow our customer base across Southeast Asia, based in Penang, Malaysia. This is a technical sales role that takes over an established book of semiconductor, automation, and machine vision accounts, with responsibility for growing them and winning new business across the region.

A working network in this market and a track record in key account growth are essential, with a commercial acumen to engage customer engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or related technical field.
• At least 3 years in technical sales or business development, ideally in optics, photonics, semiconductor equipment, instrumentation, or industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic accounts across Southeast Asia.
• Identify new opportunities within existing customers and expand Edmund Optics’ share of business.
• Build relationships with engineering, R&D, operations, purchasing, and management stakeholders.
• Identify and qualify new customers across the region through scouting, trade shows, referrals, and outreach.
• Build pipeline in emerging markets, with focus on growing Malaysia into an active territory.
• Engage with customer engineering teams to understand application requirements and system challenges.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing applications through Edmund Optics products and technologies.
• Recommend optical, imaging, and photonics solutions that meet customer objectives.
• Collaborate with Solutions Engineering and Product Management teams on complex or custom opportunities.
• Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and application guidance to customers.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of customer concerns.
