Job summary

Edmund Optics Singapore is hiring a Business Development Engineer to grow our customer base across Southeast Asia, based in Penang, Malaysia. This is a technical sales role with responsibility for established semiconductor, automation, and machine vision accounts in the region.

We seek someone with an existing market network, a track record in key account growth, and the commercial judgement to engage customer engineering teams. A working knowledge of imaging optics is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years in technical sales, account management, or business development in technical fields such as optics or photonics.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic accounts across Southeast Asia.
• Build relationships with engineering, R&D, operations, purchasing, and management stakeholders.
• Identify new opportunities within existing customers and expand Edmund Optics’ share of business.
• Identify and qualify new customers across the region through scouting, trade shows, referrals, and outreach.
• Build pipeline in emerging markets, with focus on growing Malaysia into an active territory.
• Engage with customer engineering teams to understand requirements and system challenges.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing applications through Edmund Optics products and technologies.
• Recommend optical, imaging, and photonics solutions that meet performance objectives.
• Collaborate with Solutions Engineering and Product Management on complex opportunities.
• Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and application guidance to customers.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of customer concerns.
