Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia seeks a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the factory's Engineering, Maintenance and Technical teams. You will drive preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and plan installation, commissioning and upgrades.

You will manage budgets, coordinate with multiple departments, ensure safety compliance, and deliver continuous improvement across reliability, productivity and energy efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years in factory/manufacturing engineering or maintenance with supervisory experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with production machinery and maintenance procedures.
• Good knowledge of PLC, automation, electrical systems and industrial equipment.
• Proven leadership, problem-solving, project management and decision-making skills.
• Experience managing technicians, engineers, contractors, and external service providers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the factory’s Engineering, Maintenance and Technical teams.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for machinery, equipment, utilities, and facilities.
• Ensure maximum machine availability and minimize downtime and interruptions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, automation and other technical issues effectively.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely execution.
• Plan and manage machinery installation, commissioning, upgrading, modification and improvement projects.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reliability, efficiency and cost savings.
• Manage engineering and maintenance budgets, spare parts, manpower, contractors, and resources.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Safety, Purchasing and other departments to support operations.
• Liaise with machine suppliers, contractors and external service providers for technical matters.
• Ensure compliance with company requirements, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain documentation for maintenance records, equipment history, reports and procedures.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring failures.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation, energy efficiency and cost reduction initiatives.
• Monitor and develop the technical team through coaching, training and development.
• Maintain safe working environment and promote good maintenance and safety practices.
• Prepare regular technical, maintenance, downtime and project reports for management.
• Perform other duties and technical projects as assigned by Management.

• Drive continuous improvement, automation, energy efficiency, and cost reduction initiatives within the factory.


• Monitor and evaluate the performance of the technical team and provide appropriate coaching, training, and development.


• Ensure a safe working environment and promote good maintenance and safety practices among the technical team.


• Prepare regular technical, maintenance, downtime, and project reports for management review.


• Perform other duties and technical projects as assigned by Management.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.


• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in factory/manufacturing engineering or maintenance, with managerial or supervisory experience.


• Strong experience in production machinery, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and factory utilities.


• Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, automation, and industrial equipment.


• Strong leadership, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.


• Experience managing technicians, engineers, contractors, and external service providers.


• Knowledge of PLC, automation, electrical systems, pneumatic/hydraulic systems will be an added advantage.


• Good understanding of workplace safety, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Able to work under pressure and support urgent technical issues when required.


• Willing to work on shifts, weekends, or public holidays when necessary.
